shyman if your being rejected for the current account it would normally be to do with failing the credit score, how did you apply for it?

verbal conditions that may or may not have been said in a branch
    .

Any Banking advisor using the switching service is well aware of the terms, they have to fill out the form there and then, they then must speak to the switching team while the customer is there, then speak to their manager to get the £100 credited.

Then why is this not quoted in the published T's&C's (about a salary/pension/benefit payment) ??

I am thankful to Whitewater for spelling out the additional conditions (I have been trying to warn people of them, and never doubted you), but Halifax have obviously mucked up here.
How about if this scenario were to happen? - take out a 5% fixed for 1 year interest account, then Halifax apply some non-published condition at the end - "hey, you're under 75 years old so we're giving you 0%".

Halifax answer is that it's there included in the phrase 'regular payments'

If some people wish to misinterpret that i cant do much about it but i have to enforce the conditions as laid out.

I got rejected by online myself for a credit card, sometimes it just doesnt process it well. Phone your local branch and book an appointment, should go through fine

No. You have to do what you are told to do. Understandable.
But the 'conditions as laid out' are designed to be read and understood by the average customer. (The man on the Clapham omnibus? ;))
And the phrase 'regular payments' clearly means something different to many of them, than it does to the Halifax heirarchy.

Isn't it a shame Web pages aren't dated. Suddenly I find this new (?) page on the Halifax site. Which clarifies that all the detail that certain Halifax people have been posting about 'regular payments' including salary etc ....... is the load of rubbish most of us knew.

But ......... suddenly includes the new requirement that 'credits' (ie salary / pensions etc) do have to be transferred (3rd bullet) :
You must transfer all your regular payments and credits across from your existing account using our Switching team

    http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/switch-to-halifax/

.......... (also see the 'Don't forget to switch your Credits + .pdf on the right hand side)

Yet - still sitting on the Home page - the 'old' Switching advert continues to exclude the fact that Credits are required :

    http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/current-accounts/reward-current-account/#100-switch-terms

Don't you just hate it when someone turns out to be (possibly) right but for all the wrong reasons!

I have no knowledge of the chronology any changes. However you don't link to "identical" offers. The offer link that makes no mention of "salary transfer" is specifically for a Reward account where there is a minimum funding requirement (£1000). I could well imagine Halifax being relaxed about (all) salary being transferred if they are getting £1000/month.

The other link is a "generic" offer comprising a choice of three accounts and (now?) reference to salary transfer. So potential customers should take their pick.

    Perhaps try this one then?

    http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/current-accounts/?!!!!!hpc_p1_hero_r2

Which is also from the home page - options all 3 x accounts - and does not require 'Credits' transfer for the £100.

So - that is at least 3 x separate ads for the £100 switch. Only one of which requires 'Credits' to be switched. Interesting job this 'Quality' team will have trying to ascertain which one people linked from. So I trust people are copying the T&Cs from the relevant page as they apply.
