I voted for devo max,as a scot,do not trust SNP or any future government,to run the country efficently, saying that ,the con/dems aint doing a great job imo

As you say you dont trust any government including London one's, would you not rather have independence where you can hold the government to account much easier because they are in Edinburgh not London.

What exactly is Devo Max? How can you vote on something that has not been fully explained or even formulated?

I see that even with the retry there are still a majority of Scots who do not want complete independence but now, at the time of posting, there is a majority of non scot who feel likewise.

And I'm 100% sure that nearer the time, when all the disadvantages to both sides (and there are many) have been explained, the support for the idea will drop still further.

Independence is something that appeals emotionally to some but, once people have a clearer idea of the disadvantages, they will realise that the few benefits are greatly outweighed by the many problems and costs that would accrue.

Realistically, although there is some early support from people who have not thought it through, complete independence is a bit of a dead duck. Devo-max, on the other hand, may well garner the necessary support.

We should just let them have independence.

Cut all ties, move the banks down to London as they are owned by the taxpayer and Salmond has said none of the debt for the bail out should be transferred to Scotland. Transfer all the army, air force and navy out of Scotland.

Not sure on how much it would cost them to set up a new currency but I'd put money on it not been cheap. Plus the loss of any funding from the EU as they would lose membership and would have to apply which can take over 10 years.

It might be better to leave some of the forces embedded in the Republic of Scotland.

Then we can tell the yanks we have some intelligence that the Scots have weapons of mass destruction and that we don't like Alex Salmon. We can then both invade Scotland and as a consequence get their oil.

Presumably, between now and 2014, there will be detailed costings performed to determine how much it will cost the Scots to set up their own versions of all those things that are currently handled by London. Some will not be overly onerous because there is already Scottish management infrastructure and it will simply be a matter of changing the top level reporting. Other things will be more complex and a lot more expensive. Once the Scots see the true costs they may well change their minds. If they do go for independence I would imagine that it will be something that happens over many years (ten to twelve, probably) so that all these new requirements can be met in an orderly manner.
