Please can you take your shoes off

You don't seem to take into account that for some people the feet are quite an intimate part of their body. Some people just don't like taking their shoes off in front of other people and feel it's wrong.
They may have particularly unattractive feet, they may have stinky feet and would rather upset you than die of embarassment when the whole room starts to gag, they may be shamed of having holey socks, they may have athletes foot, veruccas, fungal diseases etc that they don't want to spread, and TBH I wouldn't want peoples diseased feet on my floor _pale_.
If you're really that insistant that EVERYONE removes their shoes as soon as they enter, regardless of who they are and how long they're going to be there for it would be polite to provide slippers that can be washed easily and regularly so that people don't feel uncomfortable in your home.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I must of been lucky up to now. I have never had anyone in my house with dirty socks.
Would you check them??
To be honest I would come straight out with it and say 'look, I have OCD and can't cope with shoes in the house'

As a matter of interest, if some one did come into the wooden floor room of your house in their dirty socks, then needed youse your bathroom, what would you do?0 -

That question has been answered 15+ times already on this thread. People's feet often carry way more germs than the soles of their shoes and if they are carrying germs on their feet those are the type of germs that you seriously want to avoid as they are infectious diseases, like tinea pedis and verruca plantaris. The germs on the soles of our shoes are generally not only completely harmless but are actually entirely necessary to the development of our immune systems.0 -

In one of my earlier posts I did say that I have provided slipper socks for everyone. Clean each time not people sharing.
I have in Summer let people of on the wooden floor, but still not on the front lounge with carpet.0 -

So is it just floors that bother you, or are you like that with everything?0 -

We had a down stairs loo for this reason. I didnt want people having to go upstairs to the bathroom.0 -

Sorry, I didn't read that bit. I still wouldn't want their diseases on my floor though.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Hmm, she is determined not to play ball, then. You seem to have done everything possible to make it easy for her to do as you wish. Have you talked to her about it?
Another point about taking offence - if someone asked me to take off my shoes, I would not take offence at all. I know that some people are much more house-proud than I am. But likewise, I'm not keen on trotting about with no footwear, at least not in the winter.
If someone turned up at your house in mid-summer wearing (apparently clean) flip-flops - would you want them to take them off - just wondering.
And if you go outside briefly - to the dustbin say - would you change into outdoor shoes before doing so, then change back when you get back in?
I suppose I'm just trying to understand why you feel you must always have a no-shoes rule, even though some of your family clearly don't want to go along with it. Is it purely down to your OCD tendencies, you just can't bear the thought of it?0
