  • Thanks guys. We could do with making this page a bit more active. I don't know about you, but I need all the help I can get!

Had an awful nights sleep last night. Decided to treat myself to my favourite ASDA pasta dish....it's no longer my favourite. It gave me the worst tummy ache :-( I think my tummy must have started to contract already. That's good news I guess.

    Morning all !

    Mini, that's fantastic !!!!! Well done ! :T

Am doing well this week, trying to eat a few extra PPs as I do think it's important to have them. I'm having a bit of a get-together tomorrow evening and doing a few nibbles so a lot of them will be used up for that I should imagine :o I'll probably get some quavers and try to find some other lowish fat things - am hoping things like the mini chicken-kebabs and mini pizzas won't be too high ! Going to make sure DD keeps an eye on me ;);). Will eat before everyone gets here so I'm not 'hungry' when all the goodies are brought out.

    Today I'm having:

    Breakfast - 30g fruit n fibre & milk
    Crumpet and Jam
    Banana

Lunch - chicken, pepper and salad wrap
    Weight Watchers Yoghurt
    Pear

Dinner - Salmon, New potatoes, green beans, mini sweetcorn and carrots

Anytime - WW vanilla and choc biscuit

Brings me to 28pp with no extra (plan to use a few tomorrow night instead).

Have a good day everyone ! xxx

i've just come across this thread and saved it to my work computer as well as sending the link home.
I've been doing Weight Watchers for years (think of it as a healthy way of eating and not a diet). I used to go to meetings back in the 90's, which was when it first changed to a points system.
I admit when 'points' first was introduced I didn't take to it as I worked out I could eat 18 Rich Tea biscuits a day for my 18 point allowance (as long as i ate nothing else!). At this time i stopped going to the meetings. I bought a points calculator but didn't go to meetings in 2002 and got onboard again. I managed to go from 9st 10lb down to 8st 7lb (size 14 down to 10) where I've managed to stay around for the past 10 years.
When WW changed to Pro Points in 2010 I again picked holes in the system and refused to try the new version. However I bought the new version calculator last summer and did sign up for 3 months on-line through a cash back site (so worked out free), as it seemed to be the only way to find out what my points allowance should be (29 was the answer, though I think they may have revised it to 26 through trial and error). I cancelled my subscription when I was going to be charged £11 a month to effectively just use the calculator and tracker. I find a diary works just as well to write my food intake down and i found a website recently who give the calculator....

You might find this link useful....

    http://points.ogo.ms/

It has both the original calculator and Pro Points

I have been sticking to my points religiously since 3 Jan this year. I lost 3 lb the first week, and 1lb for the next 2. I've only another 5lb to go back to my ideal target of 8 stone (though I've never actually been able to get that low on a ny diet).

I'm still struggling with the idea of the Pro Points diet working (I think just not eating chocolate, cake, crisps and sweets at all would be the same result regardless of points), especially as fruit is unlimited. haven't actually worked out calories of my intake since 3 Jan but I suspect I must be around 1200 calories which is essentially the reason for weight loss. I've been having between 18 - 26 points a day and haven't used any weekly points. I barely do any exercise (I really hate sweating), work on a switchboard fulltime so don't leave my desk except for toilet breaks and don't have children (hence no running around at home)

I'm still sticking with the WW thing, but I'm still doubtful that the 'programme' is the key to success

I also saw on a forum somewhere that someone said on the Pro Points diet as a guide only. 40 calories is equal to a point. If a portion has 220 calories you take it to the higher rounding up of 300 and your points will either be 7 pro points or less. It seems quite a good guide if you only have calories of a product available

A word of warning to anyone thinking of doing the diet: the starter pack doesn't have a way of calculating your daily points allowance.
If you are thinking of buying it by itself e.g. on ebay, it would be a waste of money as you wouldn't be able to start a diet without the calculator.
I nearly fell for it last week, until someone who bought it and ended it up reselling it told me.
The 3 month offer looks good.

That's bad......how can they call it a starter pack if it doesn't allow you to calculate your starting points. You have to know your points allowance before you can start

Looks like the 3-month offers and signing up via a cashback site must be the only way. I used Quidco (though with all cash back sites there is a risk the cashback might not materialise)

These packs are those given to people attending classes, and their rep tells them their allowance.
Some on sale on ebay have a calculator as well, which you can use to calculate your points, but most don't.
I can understand why W W no longer include it, as people for a tenner could get the whole plan on ebay without paying them any money.
Finding an online calculator for the allowance (Uk system as the US is diffrent) is hard, they probably get taken down quickly.
Someone I know has managed to find one and save the code with the calculations before it was taken down ;)

Hiya, just wondering if you could help me a bit. I went to my first meeting and signed up last night, Im on 28 points. Just wondering how you go about calculating points, I know fruit and veg is pretty much free but how for instance do you calculate things like your wrap that you had for lunch? Im finding it all a bit confusing! TIA

    Hi Due

When you went to your meeting what 'plan' did you sign up to? Are you paying weekly? Or did you sign up to the 'monthly pass' where you can access the online tools?

If you just pay weekly, then I'm afraid you'll need to either buy a calculator or some of the books that contain points values.

If you do monthly pass then you can find out all the points values on the WW website.

They used to give you a cardboard spinny-wheel type thing to calculate points but I think now the system has changed, the spinny thing no longer works. Best thing I could suggest is maybe ring your leader (if you've got no access to online) and ask how you're supposed to calculate the points now.

I must admit, I was a bit flummoxed to find that there's nothing in the new starter pack now. A bit naughty of them too !

The Starter Pack is for meeting members and you will get it free on week 1 when joining a meeting.
Even if you did buy the pack on Ebay you would still have the tools in the pack to find the basic food PP calculations as they are in the Pocket Guide. Up until recently WW added a ProPoints finder for foods into the plan pack, however from a survey of members in meetings about the "wheel" it was found to be confusing alot of people so they removed it.
There are other tools for members to use like the calculator or e-source.
