metabolism thingy makes sense - thanks. I'll investigate hot choc - that's a good idea.
I struggle a little because I'm intolerant to gluten, so there's limited snacks that I can eat that I actually like!
I'll keep going with it.0 -

Hi Suze1984,
I've tried looking online but it wont recognise the item. Are you able to give me the protein, fat, carbs and fibre per serving and I'll look it up for you on my calc.
Al.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
I am at University studying nutrition, I am willing to give "as is" advice to any members if they would like, I don't particularly agree with W/W however if anybody genuinely is looking to get healthy (and loose weight as a benefit) feel free to drop me a line.
This is the field I'm hopefully going to go in to for a living, so if anybody would like to be a guinea pig let me know.

I started going to the gym at the beginning of March, and lost 11lb. I then decided to join WW online to boost what I had started, but 4 weeks in and I've put weight back on!!
So, I have questions:
1. Do you have to eat all your points every day? I'm really struggling to do that, and don't want to end up eating more chocolate than necessary.
2. Any tips for healthy snacks??
3. Gahhhhhhhh.
Thanks in advance

My genuine opinion would be to scrap Weight Watchers'. In my (knowledgable but NOT professional opinion) it's a counter productive measure. Weight loss of 1lb is potentially muscle, water or faeces to be blunt, so I'd ask people not to read "too" much into a 1-2lb fluctuation.
What are you doing at the gym, how do you feel when you've finished, and how did you feel at the start of the workout?
My gut feeling is that you are doing cardio type exercise (running, stepper, strider) etc, you are probably ladening your body with a huge stress reaction (body is hungry AND being made to workout) this is turn could potentially lead to weight gain.

that's interesting Andy. I am mostly doing cardio in the gym - I feel good before and after the workout which normally is 60 mins of cardio pretty much without a break.
I think I'm going to give it another couple of weeks and try to use up my points properly on things like raisins and nuts rather than ice cream.
I'd be very interested to talk further if you want to send me a PM. I've got various dietary issues around wheat and gluten so would be interested for a bit more help.0 -

Gluten is probably a problem for up to 60% of the population by some research, there is a lot of compelling evidence to suggest grains are no good for anybody. Out of sheer interest did you feel better generally when you took gluten out of your diet?
Imagine you are driving a car at 90 miles an hour down a motorway, and you realise you are very low on fuel, you know you can just make it to the next petrol station if you slowed down and drove at 50mph, or you know you'll almost certainly run out of petrol if you carry on 90mph. You'd be a fool not to slow down your petrol burning (metabolism) and try and eek it out until the next petrol station.
What do you think a hungry body will do when it's subject to exercise? Will it let you run until you fall over and damage yourself, or will it think "hang on, next time I eat, I better keep more in reserve?"
