Our lunch was cancelled......poor etiquette, but excellent manners.....the peoe have decised to divorce instead...much better to cancel than come bringing their new baggage.
.
Luckily they told my in time to stop me from defrosting the meat.
Our new ex batts have arrived. Huge, fat and healthy, aoart from some worms. They are not ex batts though, but come from an organic free range place. The difference from the last lot is astounding. Perfect, no, not by anymeans, but certainly 'acceptable' in terms of their condition.
Annoyingly i now have to bish away all the eggs while i worm every one......something i would usually rather do at a time of year not connected to peak laying, but might as well do the whole darn lot of them this week, and get them in sync, otherwise i will forget who was done when.0 -
ooooh, lostinrates, you got chickens ? How easy are they to look after ? We have thought about getting some (not lots). don't know much about them really but obviously if we did get some, we would find out as much as possible. Do they need a lot of cleaning (housing I mean, not feathers)0

motherofstudents,
lostinrates has chickens, geese, horses, dogs, cats, bees (or did the bees all die a while ago?). Were there also some ducks, or were there just some wild ones swimming on the cake? (They have a small lake called lake cake). Did I forget anything?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Yes, they need cleaning daily in a small house, with rubber gloves. At least once a year the whole house should be throuroughly scrubbed with disinfectant, thats a biggish issue, because usually the house doesn't dry out in the same day, so some tempoaray fox proof accomodation (pen in a garden shed is ok) is good. Some poorly bred birds need things like beaks clipped, as they have over or underbites which if left to snap off can go to the quick, and while growing make it hard for the bird to eat.
We have just spent a lo
Ng time rounding up the new birds and have to admit i am not at my most chicken friendly atm.
I think a lot of back yard birds have a worse or at least as bad a live as commercially produced birds......i love keeping chickens, i recommend keeping chickens, buit only if you are really prepared for the consequences and think you can do better than the best commercial rearing.
It is CHEAPER to buy eggs from a gate seller though IMO.0 -
I have a lil' bro, late 20s, 6 foot, a bit beanpole, more intelligent than me  but a bit geeky with it but hopefully the next Zuckerberg. He may not be entirely single but definitely in to ladies. Would you like to meet him PN?
.... he's not ginger is he? That'd be a downer.
