I think my job is interesting. Well, it interests me, anyway. Not all of it, of course, but quite a lot of it. No idea whether it would interest anybody to read about it, though.

I find my library job fascinating even though it is about the worst paid job I've ever had.

I like most parts of my work and would be happy if it continues until I retire.

The last job I had (12 years ago) paid ok but wasn't what I wanted to do all my life. I wanted it to be a stepping stone in the way that it did a purpose at a time but wasn't what I always wanted to do.

    Of course.... :)

Would wearing my citizen cap this afternoon be considered bad manners?

PN Currently I have my domains at 1&1. They don't seem to be offering me a wordpress install (and even seem to want to charge me extra for webmail :(.

Who would you recommend for domain registration and hosting?

I use 1and1 for domains - because it's so easy to add a new one. Then I redirect the domain to my hosting. I find it easiest to keep ALL my domains with one solid/reliable domain company, all in one place - and it takes me under 1 minute to buy a new one.

I currently have 3 hosts I think.... the two I use for Wordpress both have one click installs and I have reseller accounts, so I can just add new domains on a whim. Here's a link to them both: myhosts

I can't decide which is best - I had this dilemma last week when I bought a new domain and needed to point it at one host or the other... I ended up flipping a coin.

My 3rd host is a specialist server/service, not relevant to WP etc, they're called PowerDNN but that's a one off hosting for one of my sites that needs special knowledge.

Where are all the nice people hiding?

Today involved work (just 1 hour) and some gardening.

I cut my grass and put down 10 litres of "mega" weed killer. Should do the trick! :)

    Weathers been fab :j

    Church
Lunch out at a pub with LNE's parents - it would have been his birthday on Tuesday.
Helping DS pack to go away for his Y6 post-SATs outdoor activities residential.

I am doing quite well at not letting him know how I feel about him going away, but I miss my mum. I want to ask her how she felt when her eldest first went off on something like that, and work out whether how I feel is just a general mum thing or a specific mum-of-fragile-kid-who's-been-through-too-much thing.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I'm sure he will love it Lydia. Kids manage a lot of things better than us grown ups. It will help to make him a more rounded young man.

I am hopeful for him (and lydia) too, but dear heart, if he does not love it that too is a growing experience. It must be so bloody difficult for you parenting a wonderful but fragile child, because life doesn't stand still for them. He is such a bright boy and even if we could make the world stop turning for him to pause i am not sure that would be any better for someone so bright.....it might just let the fragility grow.

Honestly, he is so outstanding a young man, i cannot see him not growing upto be all he could be.
