Jamie Oliver is annoying me, again, this morning. He's just done a recipe for rhubarb and rice pudding. Now, I like both those ingredients, so was looking forward to watching it.
Then he promoted it as food for camping..... and used Pimms (yeah, like everybody has a bottle of that) which then catches light with big flames when you add it to the pan (scarey) ... and clotted cream (not many people have a fridge when camping) and he only used 1-2 spoons of that, so you'd need to make something else to use up the rest of the tub.
But, I did take/amend from this: Use a tin of creamed rice (as I have one of those and I have never had pudding rice) and some rhubarb (I have that in the garden).... cook them and add them together. That'll use up one can I have lurking then.0 -

I know I don't know James, but everything I've read about him makes him sound absolutely lovely.
He is a sweetie....his female friends call him their agony aunt or liken him to a gay best friend who they can talk to about anything in regards to female problems (he is hetrosexual but is sensitive to female needs). They like that about him, that they are able to talk to him without him doing the normal teenage boy thing of "Eurgh! Don't want to know about your periods or boy troubles!"
I think it is probably because his father has not had a lot to do with his formative years, ex hubby would snort and ridicule him for what he does as he would have the view he is not being a proper man and should only be trying to get into their knickers instead of talking to them :rotfl:
Not that James is a mummy's boy, he is most def his own person and incredibly independent just like I was at his age.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I can't wear sun cream, I am allergic to something in it. We did try one of the special ones which are not supposed to contain the typical allergen in it last year but alas, I still reacted to it and spent the first few days of our holiday completely miserable, itchy, blotchy and swollen...plus youngest reacted to it as well which is very unusual as he is ok with normal sun cream.
So, I try to avoid sitting out in the sun, I prefer to sit in the shade or indoors anyway as direct sunlight gives me terrible migraines (even if I wear a hat).
Since the divorce, the boys have had to put sun cream on each other, you can imagine the fun and games that follows from that, we generally end up with more suncream on the surrounding area than on their bodies! We made it! There are some sprays you can get... although they're hit and miss if you're aiming them right .... and then you still can't reach (and look dignified, or not pull a muscle) to rub them in.0 -

Do you think that those ghastly "ladies" running that finishing school would have the ladettes there if the school was a great success?
Haha. Maybe, if they had better manners themselves. I saw one of them ( think the person i know might have advised, and is also a rude battle axe). The instructors were pretty convincing an argument that ettiquette and manners can be very distinct!0 -
I didn't go to a finishing school - well you can imagine - I lived on a council estate. However my mother believed deportment was very important and taught me to walk around with a book on my head. I have oftentimes thought of using this skill in the library, but thought it may attract odd looks.
As anachronistic as it sounds now, I was also told that if as a young woman I should choose to smoke, then it was terribly impolite to walk along the street with a cigarette and that the done thing was to sit in a cafe where an ashtray would be on hand. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It's like those arguments about eating in the street, or a restaurant. Eating in the street = £1-2 tops. Eating sitting down = £4-7. Easy choice! Eating in restaurants, just because "you do", is for rich people.0 -
As a child, me and a friend used to pretend we were models and would train ourselves to walk around with books on our heads....not sure if it did any good though! We made it!
