Hope they would be cheaper in either case! Its a usiness seller. I looked at their website and they have some nice things, but those are imo the best, and soooooo expensive!
Buy them. Take a cast of them. Make your own in plaster and paint them. Flog the originals.

    Job done.

Ok, so its not warm, but its dry this evening. I am sitting with the lights out, looking out of the window, with cats snuggled up to me and dogs on the floor close by, and i am watching the bats play, black fluttering dancers against the inky blue sky, just them and the shape of trees out there.

Not much is lovelier, not much at all.

so far I have fitted 3 blinds (2 in master bedroom and one in the kitchen) and 3 cutrain rails (other 2 bedrooms and the top of the stairs).

Not paid for any curtains as friends/family have donated to us in all cases new curtains they decided against which fit perfectly with what we want.

The front room already has very nice blinds which are staying.

So all which is left is a blind for the bathroom which is ready to be fitted and something decorative to go with the blinds in the master bedroom.

All in all I think we have spent less than £100 and won't spend too much more.

    Very mse, well done.

I am ashamed to admit how many more times that i am spending on each window. Second hand smokey curtain pole and fittings cost more than that. Today i was wondering with my mother on the phone whether to get new lace from some place she knows the owners of italy, or try and get an antique panel of lace large enough for a georgian* bathroom window or whether to not have lace at all, but acres of something blousy like a soft cotton muslin (option three is winning for me because te cheapest, but have seen something with embroidered polka dots in it).

This curtain will ofcourse, be entirely decorative, i am having shutters in the bathroom, this is just to 'female it up' a bit.:o

Edit * as in period, not as in not russian. ;)

I found having Venetians costs a fortune (even for a professional shopper using all the discount codes), however I reckon the house looks so much better than with net curtains. Downstairs we will probably mostly stick with just the blinds, upstairs we have curtains as well but a mixture of poles (includng free from freecycle) and tracks.
    I think....

Isn't all this going to cost a fortune?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Ikea do very cheap venetian blinds. 1.4 x 2.5m costs £45

The ones I bought are silvery, and less expensive than that.

Michaels is currently wondering how many ways the following words can be arranged: DEAD IKEA SEEN WOULDN'T BE BLINDS WITH

The issue here is: Venetians aren't expensive..... the blinds the posh NPs want ARE expensive :)

I hate venetians, taste is so personal. And i hate net curtains too. I am having neither, anywhere.

Edit in london i had very fine cotton curtains, much like i think i will have in the bathroom, for bathing privacy. Elsewhere people just have to look at me i am afraid, during the day.
