.....err.... and just keep your head down, Lydia! :rotfl:
There's a nice complicated bit of VBA code that needs writing before the exams that come straight after half term. I also have a set of homework to mark and some reports to write that are due in by 9am tomorrow. So there's plenty to take my mind off other people's houses. Alternatively I could just procrastinate and watch TV for an hour or so, and cook supper, and not think about anything important at all.
Normally I enjoy getting involved in other people's house hunting - all the pleasure of nosing round houses (on RM or IRL) with none of the stress of actually committing one's own money or moving one's own home. This, however, has been much more, err... I think "exciting" is probably the euphemism I'm looking for.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Do both sets of people bidding know you know the othe other party?
I agree, finding yourself busy is a good plan!0 -

It's not clear to know what kids will find easy or hard to say.
DD1's first word was "lawnmower." I was so shocked, I asked for a repeat & got it. As we didn't own one then, I still wonder if she meant something else, but it was very distinct.
Her second word was "wall."
"Mum" & "Dad" didn't figure for a while; it was all stuff, so long as it didn't begin with "J." That and animal voices, real or imagined. We had a lot of fun with "Narwhal!" :rotfl:0 -

There are 3 sets of people bidding. I know 2 of them. As far as I've been able to find out, one of the 2 families I know has dropped out of the bidding, so that makes it less awkward for me if it's just between one set of my friends and some strangers.
This is a house that has been on the market for months and months and has recently dropped its price by £15k. Supports what we are always being told on here (although not usually inside the NPT, of course) that things that don't sell are overpriced and will sell if you decrease what you're asking for. (Although actually I think it wasn't particularly overpriced - just beyond the budget of my friends.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Another useful site from the online applications portaI I see
I have lost my quick reply box. Anyone else?
Is it mse's way of finally attempting to shut me up?0 -
Wow - see even on this little bit of the board we can actually show a fair reflection of the housing market and despite the BBC doom and gloom there definitely seem to be buyers out there at the moment (of course whether they can get mortgages is another matter)
Talking of the main board there is an austerity thread which is actually quite full of economics, supporting data and insightful comment and no ad hominem attacks - a breath of fresh air.
Edit - I still have a quick replyI think....0 -
Oh, i think i had closed it somehow. Its back. Hurrah

Mine is still there.
I need a new keyboard, though. I have a history of neck trouble, so I use my laptop on a stand at a suitable height, with a USB keyboard and mouse. The keyboard is not behaving properly. The lower case letters are all fine, as are some of the upper case ones, but the ASDFJKLZXCVM<> keys do nothing. At least, they do nothing if I use them in the usual way holding shift down while pressing the key. They are fine if I use caps lock - well, not < and > obviously. If I want those keys I have to reach up to the keyboard of the actual laptop.
Interestingly, it's fine if I press shift on the laptop and the letter key on the USB keyboard, or if I press shift on the keyboard and the letter key on the laptop, just not if I press both on the keyboard. I can't switch to using the laptop keyboard all the time because its trackpad is hypersensitive and thinks it's been tapped if anything (such as my arm) comes within a few inches of it, even if it hasn't been touched.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
