Percy, sometimes this thread moves very very quickly. Its a dilemma if you leave it for too long, as you want to make sure none of your internet chums have had a disaster that you can help with or commiserate or a triumph you can congratulate them on...but you have to wade through pages about mushrooms, and dog eating and window licking. The only benefit, as far as i am concerned, is there is less drivel than if i had been posting.
Bit chilly this mornoing, eh?
Next year i will have heating, next year i will have heating. Its been really lucky this year really, although its cold now, it could have been this cold for the last couple of months.0 -

Nice and bright here though. I should open my curtains.0 -
It's bright here, mainly because (as reported elsewhere) I've discovered HMRC has sent false info, preventing the submission of my on-line business return.
And I'd assumed it was me.
I no longer quake at the sight of Moira Stewart.0 -
now its rendering which looks like its going to take a very long time.
Yup, our barn will take ages. But does one render a barn, or just accept it for what it is?
I am coming around to celebrating my breeze block inheritance, rather than attempting to hide it behind a thin veneer of concrete acceptability.0 -
Anyone watching that 4 part series about Putin on BBC2?
Highly interesting and not dumbed down for a change.
On another note, where's lemonjelly? Haven't seen him for ages. Hope you're ok, jelly.0 -
Eldest Son home from Uni for a few days, says he needs a rest, look out fridge
We had that 2 weeks ago. Emptied fridge in 2 days, suitcase delivered to the utility room, "to be helpful given it all really needs washing".
But it is nice to have them home.
Then they leave and you find the Sky planner blocked with all their TV programmes that they didn't bother watching.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Bidding war over - won by the friends that I first mentioned. They have agreed that it's a practical family home for now, and he's told her they can always move again in a few years' time when they haven't got so many children at home, and at that point they may be able to afford somewhere with period features. In the mean time, she is planning things she wants to do to it - remove the breakfast bar for starters, I understand, and put in a wood burner, and add lots of twigs in vases, I expect. Just got to hope the chain holds together this time - they lost a house a few months ago when their buyer's buyer pulled out the day before everyone was supposed to exchange, but we are hopeful things will go through this time because their buyer (still the same man) has two more offers on his house.
Now I just have to work out whether to say anything to the other friend about why I didn't reply to her text message about whether it was a nice road to live on.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
