Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

It affects the integrity of recommendations made by Martin, but maybe the links on that part of the site are already clearly marked?
It is being used for forum user written comment, not MSE articles.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Forum Ambassadors are not moderators and don't read every post. If you spot an illegal or inappropriate post then please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com (it's not part of my role to deal with this). Any views are mine and not the official line of MoneySavingExpert.com.0 -

No it doesn't. Anything written by Martin or any of the MSE staff will still be on the same * or not-* system as before. Skimlinks will allow MSE to make some revenue from links posted by board users in certain forum boards (16 of them, not including any of the "Pure Money" ones).
AIUI, if I'm on the "Phones, web, TV" board and post a link to, for example, an Amazon product, then visitors (or registered users who've enabled skimlinks) who click on the link that I've posted will arrive at Amazon in a way that tells Amazon they came from MSE. If they buy the product I recommended, both Skimlinks and MSE get some money.
I can't see that it will affect content at all - I can't see why people posting on the boards would alter what they post because of the skimlink possibility. I understand that the forum is getting more and more gargantuan, and therefore consuming more of MSE's resources. I see no reason why the forum shouldn't generate a bit of non-content-influencing revenue, just as the main site does. If it keeps the forum free and ad-free, I can't see a problem with it. Or am I missing something?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

That's very clear, and thanks for explaining it to a dim-wit like me so patiently. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Will it mean you get annoying huperlinked words that pop-up little boxes in front of what you are reading if you happen to let the mouse hover over them?I think....0

Any of the NP's know something about camcorders?
Looking for one, budget not more than 500, need full HD 1920x1080, should be good in low light, decent image stabiliser, good battery life...
Was looking at these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-HDRCX115EB-Definition-Handycam-Camcorder/dp/B0031U1AJ6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1335358197&sr=1-1
a bit pricier:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-SD90-1920x1080p-Ready-Camcorder/dp/B004I1KPI4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1335360535&sr=1-1
Any you would recommend? Things to look out for?

Eurovision has always been a HUGE joke.... cool people didn't watch it, except to mock. Terry Wogan would just get more and more p155ed, which is the only reason a few people bothered to watch it.
The bands/songs the UK put in were embarrassing.0
