Do you get F1 on the sky go app?

I'm not too bothered and watching it at 5 was fine other than having to dodge the results online.

As far as I can see, no. It would appear you have access to 40 channels, of which some are radio stations, so content is much reduced.

If you have Sky HD you don't need to pay (currently) for F1 on Sky, it's if you want to watch other stuff that you get stiffed (DH watches American Football). If you haven't already gone HD, it's worth paying the extra (it was about £40) and get a terabyte box. The amount of storage it has compared to standard is staggering. You don't have that scrabble around to delete stuff in order to record something space-intensive.

I was just going to mention that. I know that everyone moans about £70 being high (it was £105 before), but for 3 TV’s, 2 of which are HD, I don’t actually think that’s too bad.

We’ve got a 1TB box in our bedroom, and it’s absolutely amazing for recording things and watching them before sleeping, although the 42in bed certainly wasn’t moneysaving

That is a very small bed.

Half the TVs in our house are actually PC monitors and for at least 3 years most of our TV watching has been on line rather than broadcast. Following my TV appearance I have also found a nifty free program that records flash stream like iplayer :)

I'm now a bit annoyed that I did not network cable one of the TV points when we had the extension.

I mean the bed with a 42in screen that pops up.

I think I know of the program you’re talking about, but won’t mention name for legal purposes (bit of a grey area).

The PC link thing is actually an interesting concept, and one that I‘ve never thought about. I do occasionally have something on my iMac in the office when I’m doing something else (like I’m on here whilst on the phone to a Russian press guy now), but I don’t really watch TV off of a TV.

We have one tv. Its big, it used to be my parents but they replaced it. We pretty much watch the same things, and i use it as much or more for radio.

We did have one in the bedroom for about a month, (courtesy of free to collect). Dh had it in london, then didn't need it so brought it home, then it died:rotfl:. I prefer no tv in the bedroom, so i am glad.

Dh and I don't care about high defi ition, but dh says he would like 3d in the future. I don't mind seeing entertainment things later than other people, even by a couple of years really. Its not so important to me and good fiction is timeless, and the other stuff by default gets weeded out. The only reason we might pay for tv would be horse and country or similar, if it got A lot better than when i last saw it, but mainly films. Love film or something spunds cheaper for our needs, no? I cannot remember why we stopped that now, but in anycase, we. Don't have anything to down load films onto now, just macputer.

Re lodger... well, it is their home too - and if it's a surprise visit they can't tell you. I very rarely arrange to go round to people's houses, I just randomly turn up. I've always randomly turned up, while passing....

Btw, does anyone know why they’ve limited each album to 200 photos (I know it used to be 60). I’ve got about 12 albums of roughly the same thing now

It's annoying when you've only got 1 small portable though.... actually, I don't own a telly at all. I'll have to get one later this year.

I don't have a bed either. I will get a blow up mattress when I move.

I think that there are a fair proportion of NP on Facebook, although I could be wrong.

I use it mainly for work, and for the odd family member that want’s something, it’s always on in the background, but I use MSE a damn sight more!

Remind me of the next post on our NP meetup, and thou shalt have thy old TV! It’s 32in, CRT and was about to find its way into the recycling yard!

sorry, i know there are a couple of GP fans on here and I'm having a rest in between working frantically, do you not find it quite offensive they are racing in Bahrain?

    No.

I'd find it offensive if they didn't race.

Had it been cancelled the extremists would have won a PR victory, and that's more dangerous by far.

Despite a fairly clever PR attempt by the dissidents to wrap their attempts at insurrection under the cover of seeking democracy, this is now and always has been a sectarian issue, where Iran funds and backs the Shiia segment of the population in it's attempt to overthrow the Sunni Royal Family.

They want to turn a tolerant, open minded, western leaning nation into an intolerant, fundamentalist, Islamist state that is basically the 13th province of Iran. (As indeed some Iranian leaders readily admit)

Bahrain under the current Royal Family has always been amongst the most tolerant of Middle East nations, alcohol is legal, women can drive, work and are able to walk the streets without fear, and religious freedom is welcomed and celebrated. Unusually for the region it has a Christian Cathedral, a Jewish Synagogue, and various Hindu and Sikh Temples.

However in the last decade, following the introduction of democracy, the Shiia community have used their elected seats in parliament to try and implement restrictive and oppressive laws that would reverse decades of tolerance and move Bahrain towards a fundamentalist state. Laws that have quite rightly been blocked by the King and unelected upper house.

    Anyway.....

Here's some "peaceful demonstrators for democracy" planting a bomb and blowing up a police vehicle.

Here's some more throwing molotov cocktails at the Police.

Oh, and here's a lovely scene of them throwing firebombs at shoppers going into the local mall.

I don't dispute that there are issues needing to be resolved in Bahrain, but it's not as clear cut a position as the media here would like to make out.

The government is actually far less sinister than they are portrayed as being in the UK press. And the dissidents are far more dangerous than the coverage here would suggest.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
