We never did find out what is meant to happen to the socket with a label saying 'warning do not switch off'.

You could try following the plug lead and seeing where it goes.

If there is no plug in the socket then it looks like someone just left the label on there after removing whatever was plugged in.

Might be worth asking an electrician the next time you have one in as I may have picked you up wrong.

Then there will be a scandal when the socket inspectors discover several dummy sockets.

So, I can't just screw sockets to the wall without connecting them to the electrical supply? You are quite sure that they wouldn't count?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Some relatives in Florida have an upstairs laundry room - everything is washed, dried and ironed upstairs so no taking laundry up or downstairs ever - neat idea huh!
    I think....

Well yes, unless you prefer to line dry rather than use a tumble dryer, then you are lugging heavier wet washing downstairs and outside.

That'll never catch on here - in a country where house prices are determined by the number of bedrooms..... and any space upstairs larger than 6'x6' can be a bedroom .... it'll never catch on.

I've always fancied an outside laundry room... in case the machine catches fire or floods. With an old-fashioned wooden door - and a slightly sloping floor, so if it did leak/flood, the water'd run down the slope and out through the bottom of the shed door.

Funnily enough I have relatives in Jamaica with a set up like that but there is very little chance of the washer catching fire unless you doused her in rum and struck a match...

I suspect in the US (Florida) you don't bother to line dry, especially as for a lot of the year the sun is so strong the clothes would probably be destroyed.
    I think....
