If it's a very small socket with 3 round holes, it may be for a lamp that you plug in there. The socket is switched on/off by one of the light switches on the wall.

That might make sense, i think there is a spare switch in there.

So, I can't just screw sockets to the wall without connecting them to the electrical supply? You are quite sure that they wouldn't count?

i mean it seems logical that they wouldn't but i am not the socket-arbiter, so i cannot give you a definitive answer on that.

presumably there's a regulator called OFFSOC or something which you can contact to clarify.

Have a google for 5 amp sockets. If it looks right, you can buy a 5 amp plug and replace the plug on an old light for testing purposes. Umm, actually, if in doubt get your electrician to do this for you.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Pn, this is a very long ten minutes...it got a little brighter and is darkening up again, the wind is howling today too. The wind howls a lot here, i love it butbit wouldn't suit someone who found wind noise spooky.
Maybe my 10 minutes was the edge of doom..... and your house is under the evil centre of doom.

Six pages to catch up:eek:. See you in about two hours, by which time there'll probably be at least another 40 posts to read after this one. I'm going to have to stop going to work to keep up.

Poor ol me has no home.
Is this common knowledge, or did I miss something?

I thought everybody had a big house here (except me).
