The problem with sockets is you never have enough .... and are then limited as to how you can have your stuff around you based on where the sockets are.
My parents had one double socket, in one corner - that dictated that the telly went there; that dictated where everything else should go ... and the room simply never worked.0 -
Yes, it's very important. I need to know how far I am behind the Jones's before I ring the electrician.
:rotfl:i've just had a recount and discovered sockets I didn't know I had. 30!
10 are at the dining room end of the kitchen, so you can discount those if you want. They are all double sockets, so really 15 x 2. Some are hidden in cupboards, so not that useful. 1 double is directly under the sink, so I wouldn't use that for anything other than the waste disposal.
Your the official Mrs Jones of TNPT :j
I've got 7 sockets in my conservatory if that counts :rotfl:0 -
Our dining room has an odd three holes socket but not one a modern plug fits into. I wonder why its there.0

Cookery books are annoying. Big, heavy book - say 200 recipes - not searchable ... and probably only 2-3 you'd ever make and 20-30 you'd think of making. So then you have a whole shelf like that..... much better to have one searchable recipe collection, viewable on a book-sized screen - that you can add to, make notes on etc.
I am using Evernote - they have a food version, but I am using the basic Evernote. It's brilliant...... I spot a recipe I like online, click on the toolbar button and it adds a new record. I can then amend that record if I want - at any time (now or 10 years' time). I can add tags too. Search is brilliant. I can search within a tag set, or do a text search just by typing into the little box on the top of the screen... no faffing.
It's genius... and I have a lovely little thumbnail of every recipe.
And - once I have other PCs, smartphone, etc etc I can view all of these from any device, anywhere. I can add stuff to it if I am on somebody else's PC/Internet as it's PC-based and web-based at the same time - and it synchronises automatically.
To date, I have:
132 Recipes
35 Tags
I can add a new tag simply by typing the word - no complicated finding of any menu items etc.
And, the tags display in a list and after each one there are brackets giving me a count of how many are tagged with that.
When it adds a record it adds a link back to the original and lets me know the date I created the record - and it keeps track of changes too.
They do have a food version, which I've never investigated as I'd already started with the standard version.
I am building a full-colour, fully searchable, available worldwide instantly, personalised cookbook

The house I grew up in had various old plug sockets requiring different shaped plugs (most were no longer connected ) and also a set of push bell buttons linked to a panel in the basement.
Posh alert?
There was also a dumb-waiter...lostinrates wrote: »Our dining room has an odd three holes socket but not one a modern plug fits into. I wonder why its there.I think....0 -
If we're not careful we're going to end up in a NP kitchen socket arms race, with extensions being constructed specifically to house incremental power sockets.
Then there will be a scandal when the socket inspectors discover several dummy sockets.0 -
Does it just store bookmarks or does it 'cache' the pages?PasturesNew wrote: »The future is definitely a screen/iPad - containing recipes, pictures of food and videos of how to make things - so your recipe book can be searched, propped up to follow - it could show you/demonstrate and talk you through the recipe.....

Simply because no one has bothered to upgrade it
You can still get the old (round pin) type of plugs Linky0 -
So busy today and not much chance to post but........
24 sockets in the lounge (an "extra" 10 of which are due to 2x6 gang near the computer - didnt install enough).
12 sockets "on show/usuable" in kitchen and utility. Plus at least one each hidden away for fridge freezer x2, washer, drier, dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob, breadmaker, boiler - cant remember how many or where other than the breadmaker one which is accessible with difficulty0
