Lunch today in Fine Dining Central was: A chicken sandwich I picked up last night that was reduced to 60p. Best before yesterday, of course, but sandwiches can't read the date so they won't know they are supposed to be green by now.
It was nice0 -

Sorry to hear about the dog.
I agree, she has to be told, holiday or no holiday. I would expect to be notified also when ours would die when we're not around. No need to see the body though, as long as I would know it's been well dealt with, it would be fine.0 -

I can kind of see this.
I'm wondering if it is worse that you're testing me by posting about your wanton destruction & vandalism?:pIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Regarding 911, I was oblivious all day. I was working 11-7pm. At some point in the day, my colleague (we were working away from the office) came into my room & said "they're going mad out there. They're flying planes into buildings and everything!".
My response didn't pick up on the seriousness of the matter. "What? In walsall???"
Colleague left at 4pm. I sat on my own for 3 hours. Blissfully unaware.
At 7pm I walked to my car (still unaware). Got into car & drove home, listening to a cd.
As I pulled onto the drive, I turned the cd off. Briefly, the radio mentioned what was happening. I still didn't pick up on it.
Walked into the house. Mom starts going on about how terrible it is. Jelly is in a world of his own & mumbles "yeah, they're going on about it on the radio". Goes to bedroom, puts tv on, watches an aeroplane fly into a skyscarper, & realises this is serious. Eventually. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Oh, & on Diana dying, I remember my mum rushing into my bedroom saying "you'll never guess who has died!"
I jumped up fearing the worst - dad? my brother? nan?
"who?" I said.
"Diana! And Dodi!"
"Give a $h1t!" I said. And I rolled over & went back to sleep. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I didn't know Diana had died. I was living in a bedsit at the time, having just started a new job in a new town/county. Where I worked they had a small pool and there was a quiet/mousey woman in the same house as me who I invited to go swimming. We went. Tiny pool, only her/me in there really. Walking away from the pool, about 5pm, she just randomly said "It's terrible isn't it" and I said "what?".... first I knew!0

Worth a double thanks - me too.
9/11 I happened to be doing a days work in Grosvernor Square just across from the US embassy. We all got pretty nervous, stayed away from the windows and eventually decided to risk heading home.
I suspect there may be a 20th plug socket in my kitchen, I will have a hunt when I get home.
The bedroom we are currently using only has 8 sockets so we are using 1x6 and 2x4 gang extensions.lemonjelly wrote: »Oh, & on Diana dying,
