I was going to put a tongue in cheek, modernised version of it, but I won't for fear of causing offence, where none was intended.

    Pity. Sounds funny.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

That passage, from the end of proverbs, is attributed to King Solomon. So, either he was indeed wise or he had the benefit of wise advisers.

LOL are you hinting that women ask for too much?

    :D
In my immensley limited opinion, we never know what to give you.

That, & too many games with 2nd guessing all the time (both are guilty of that).

    All imo of course...

    Hehehehe

I fold over the whole page really, so it makes a nice bold triangle of the top half of the page. With a nice pressed crease to drive the point home.

I love second hand books, and finding evidence of other peep's read too....so their underlines, their folded page corners, the pages it falls open on.

I think you should post it.

We're mature enough to know where no offence is intended.

Plus, my constant thirst for knowledge (ie I'm nosey) means this is going to bug me now...

    I've been Money Tipped!
Goodness, i remember what i disliked about househunting now.

Looked at a couple of houses today, one was beautoful but my parent needs a house like that as much as they need a hole in the head. I think the point made about fewer but bigger rooms is finally being understood.

Making a list of priorities is not happening, and some of the wants are, imo, contradictory.

Otoh, have found a beautiful place to look at, that blows my advice to parent put of the water but is stunning stunning and i think would meet half the list really well. (there is another i really like, that is really ideal on all but one important count, no outdoor space, but a gorgeous, gorgeous house, in a faultless location and underbudget. Its funny looking at a different sort of house in a different price bracket.

in a recent episode of some terrible US crime drama i was forced to watch, there was an exchange along the following lines:

    character 1: women like money
character 2: i think you will find men like money too
character 1: men like money because women like money

so there you have it, just give them a wad of cash and everything will be fine.

You poor, poor chap. Couldn't you have asked the court for a community service order instead?

the judge offered me a community sentence, but the trouble is with that is it would have looked bad - it would have relegated me to the same "star status" as boy george.

therefore i took the "a-list" option (strictly speaking some b-listers like lindsey lohan get to do this as well) - two weeks of house arrest watching harry's law and lost without a trace.
