THat’s how we work, and I specifically try to make sure that there’s more/less nothing from the last one of the year (early December) to beginning of January.

Also comes in useful with overtime. Everyone gets paid that bit on April 1st, and I know of some that are getting £100000 in overtime this year

West Country/South West ... kind of round the corner from Lands End.

You don't have to be recruiting... you could just pay me. That works for me.

    whahhaaaa...that made me laugh :)

The job itself is not that bad actually. It's very quarterly driven though and that does my head in.
Time to read the whole internet in January & February, and absolute mayhem in March.
But hey ho, I shouldn't complain. It pays the bills.

My job tends to be horribly busy for 2-3 months, then very quiet for a month or so, and then insane for six weeks, then nothing to do and so on. Also it's very noticeable that my manager creates a lot of work- if he's away my workload halves, but everything still seems to function.

The annoying thing is that you never know when it will kick off, its not unusual for me to find out on Friday that I'll be working all weekend (no overtime or toil mind) despite having had nothing to do all week, which is very unamusing. at least you know when you're going to be under the kosh.

Well, you could be seen as a pioneer of a private benefits system :)

Benefits are paid by the state for people to do nothing.... I think there's a gap in the market for private companies to do that too :)

You could become a pioneer in this field. See this as an opportunity.

Best job I ever had was a one day booking in about 1988. It was at the reception/office of the regional TV broadcaster. The building contained a photographer and a reporter, who I didn't see.

When I arrived, I was shown a TV remote and a pile of newspapers. I was told "here are today's newspapers if you want to read them; here's the TV control, just make sure it's on ITV if members of the public walk in". And then "If anybody comes in for Patrick's Pantry recipes they're in the bottom drawer".

I then sat there all day, reading the papers and watching the TV. One member of the public came in and the phone rang 3x.

I had 6 weeks off last summer, and everyone was moaning that in September/October and even early November it’s too quiet. I drum up some 60% of what we do (around 40% is repeat work), and I’m becoming more and more set on offering substantial discounts on 10 year contracts, as it saves me doing something and stops me ending up with a profit margin HMRC get suspicious of (yes, they said that 43% is too high last year and got suspicious!)

I’m in the middle of a huge expansion programme atm, and you don’t notice until you REALLY start putting things in bulk how much cheaper they become.

An order of 82 Transits and 41 Galaxies (even though I’ll never have the latter again, S-Max is much better ) comes in at a 52% discount of basic list, and these are all specced with leather (velour on the Trannies) and satnav, plus various other driver comforts. Even managed to sweet talk our new supplier (Gates of Harlow, for anyone that’s interested) into giving us free metallic paint and Ford coffee mugs

Same with equipment to a lesser extent really; about 30%, although we put a bulk order in with the Sony store 3 weeks before they went bust, and got the bits in their last day of trading. So happy I timed that perfectly it’s beyond belief!

I must have missed that, was it the Martingale System? I had a friend who did that with massive success, but then he stopped updating us and I never remembered to ask the final outcome.

Had an online friend just last week use a freebie and walked away with £700. 18 years old, never gambled before... I couldn't believe it. I thought she had popped up online to ask me what to do about a problem.... she was asking me about withdrawing the money. Lucky bint.

No, it certainly wasn’t. That’s not betting, and it’s illegal.

The system in question runs around empty spins and multi-runs (e.g lose 50p on one colour three times, bet £10 on the next one on the other colour) and it generally works. That’s the basic of it, however there’s strategy on it, however it is genuine gambling (e.g no guarantee of winning)

It’s also possible to tell when a green’s going to show, too. This is usually 2 spins around the green, then one on the other side. Again, this is what several of us have found with 1 online casino and is not advice.

£25 is affordable to lose for me, but I certainly wouldn’t continue using it, as such have closed the account.
