I also know the Hansard is. Women were given the right to vote (30) and run for Parliment in 1918 but it was only in 1928 when they were allowed to vote at 21. In 1969, the voting age was reduced to 18.

8% of schoolchildren in the UK attend public schools. They have to be open for 190 days in the year and are tested at 7,11 and 14 in England and Scotland

50.1 million people live in England with 71.6% of the UK population claiming to be Christian.

The Monarch is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England and there are 4 patron saints for the UK.

I could go on but I think you get the gist :rotfl: :D
    My genuine answers:
    Hansard - some book
Right to vote - no idea, before 1930 though, probably
Parliament - no idea... guessing 1950 for no reason other than an answer is required
Voting age reduced - no idea.
    Public schools - no idea
    Open days - no idea
    Testing - no idea
    Living in UK: 60 million
    Christian - no idea

Question is .... can you make a good Yorkshire pudding, have you had a proper Cornish pasty, who was the lead actor in Up Pompeii!!, who was Bill & Ben's friend and what time is the Queen's Speech on Xmas Day? Now.... THEY are proper questions!!

Re tutors, some schools are using tutors, one-to-one, to help students understand specific bits of a syllabus they're stuck on - and they're using Indian tutors, which cost the schools £13/hour. The Indians are post-grads. It's been going on for quite a lot of years, but not often appears in the news. It's all delivered over t'Internet.

    NOTE: I DON’T CONDONE GAMBLING!

Gave one of the free £25 gambling things a go last night when I’d put the girls to bed (wanted to try something out at work without paying for it) and finished about £1700 up an hour later on the roulette!

I jut want to know what NatWest (and OH!!!) are going to think of me when they see Ladbrookes going into the joint account (it’s going to pay for a short break), however it’s safe to say that the system we were talking about works, I won’t be doing it again.

    I love staffroom chats :D

Good morning all! I hate Mondays  (Exchange beer for coffee)

    I've been Money Tipped!
These caught my eye twice this weekend .... in different locations. Not through a desire to own one, but more of a "!!!!!! - is there really a market for that?" way.

We want a hot tub, but cannot afford it right now. Evenings like yesterday when my back and legs stop cooperating, it would be a good precurser to a massage.

I hated the idea of hot tubs till on a holiday (it was actually a course, but a holiday one for us) we had use of one. Dh had to drag me out there the first night so revolted by the idea of stewing in used hot water was i, the next night we both laughed when i was dragging him back out. We one day would like one down my the cake so we can enjoy a view of the cake and the big hills beyond.

I am walking but not dancing this morning. things are working but with a really violent scioatica and the occasional spasm. I have to bath one of the horses this week, but might see if i feel less creaky tomorrow rather than try today.

    Yorkshire pudding – no
Cornish pasty – I have had one, but was it proper?

Little Weed starred alongside Bill and Ben, but you have to be a certain vintage to know that
The Queen's speech is in the afternoon?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

By the way, I just failed the official life in the UK practice test. Do you think that is because my parents were immigrants?

I failed it, I don’t see the point in half the questions anyway!

So happy I’ve had my British passport for about 15 years!

    I failed 17/24. :(

although i do think that it has some sort of purpose as it does confirm whether your english skills are competent enough to prepare for and take the test.

i think OH has taken it but can't remember - she has ILR but doesn't have a british passport yet.
