Ouch! Dog insurance renewal quote just arrived. Turns out Argios are switching underwriters for our terrier's lifetime insurance so the monthly premium's hiked from £17 to £36!:eek:

Furthermore it looks like they're tasking it on credit so we have to buy it over a year at 0% and presumably have to pay all year even if we lose the dog! (hoping not to, but we have insurance because we can imagine all sorts going wrong with the little feller).

What a horrible change! He's only claimed for a couple of lost claws (he's a clumsy git). Any other dog owners here recommend a good lifetime policy?

£36 quid a month? that's almost as expensive as my car insurance.

Martin has a piece about pet insurance zag.

My advice would be see who your vet has food relations with. We don't have all ours insured, which is the right choice for us, buit the ones we do cost a bomb

We've got covered4life classic with Petplan

It was recommended by our vet, I can't personally recommend it because we never had to claim or deal with them (apart from paying premiums :p), but maybe worth checking out, zag.

Special girl is with pet plan. When she had a career ending injury she used the full payment for ops with not coming right. The vet wanted one last go, and pet plan went 4 k above agreed limit to cover her. Amazing, amazing. When she did not come right immeadiately they offered me a loss of use payment...i declined, rightly, because she came right given more time. She is the one who costs a bomb now!

It'sa bout £100 more than our house insurance, and more than either of our car insurances.
Still need to get it. One of my friends with no pet insurance had to pay £2000 for her cat to have an operation. For that price she should have it converted to a dog!

Vet bills get pretty steep pretty quickly.

Luckily my cats tell me they have never felt better, the two steaks i was defrosting for dh and i tonight were, the cats assure me, delicious.

£2000!!!! Surely, it's cheaper to have the cat put down and then replace it? Kittens are often given away. Remember, that's the choice your cat would make if the roles were reversed. :D
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have just renewed my insurance, I have been with Direct Line for over 20 years, never claimed. I told them I was leaving, they asked if they could requote, I said yes, they came back saying that I had their cheapest quote. So bye bye, I was surprised really, especially bearing in mind their whinging about people putting in false claims. Never mind I am now with the Liverpool Victoria who are supposedly superior (according to Which survey) and a third cheaper :) I suppose the straw that broke the Camels back was a petty charge of £10 for repairing the windscreen shown on the schedule.

True, but not dogs, they are very loyal :) I wouldn't trust a cat as far as I could throw it ;)
