My parents aren't from the "going away for a weekend" generation, so they never did it. ....

They must have done it at least 3 times.

Precisely! Plus, the implication of hotness would be a compliment, no?

In any case, it is time we went away for a weekend together without the children.

After THAT comment, getting away with only having to fork out for a weekend away could be considered getting off lightly.

You know you're spending too long on RM and watching house programmes on the telly when....

Having eaten earlier (beans/eggs/sausages on toast and a cheesecake).... I promptly crashed out. I awoke in a nightmare as Phil Spencer had just posted here that he'd agreed with something I'd said and posted a link to my house photo, with my full name showing from my Google Account.

    I think I need therapy

We are going to take a peek under our bedroom carpet this weekend.....see what the floors in here are like. Probably not going to be great but worth knowing.
Ooh, you'll probably find some newspaper sheets from 1880 or something :)

Judging by other bits we peeked at it will have had chip board put down in the sixties over the original but incredibly worm damaged to the point of unrestorable boards, in the little loft space in the victorian bit that had work down ion the sisties we found really ancient 1960s newspapers.......(lir runs from everyone boarn pre 197@s:D)

In our last house we found a newspaper from 1952 while refurbing the bathroom. In it was an ad for the last two houses on our little estate. They were £2 200 each.

We left a copy of the ad for the couple who bought the house, just so they'd know what a wonderful appreciating asset they had. :)

For the benefit of those not on FB, Martin (Lewis) has posted this link:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/ebay-local-deals/

it shows you the nearest items to your postcode that are "pick-up" only. Downside is that you cannot restrict category. If there are more than 80 it shows the first 80 only, so switching between sorting by ending and price gives different results as does changing the distance.

Theory is that pick-up only items don't get many bids, so you can get a bargain. In fact there is a table and floor lamp near me for only £1.04, but they are a bit kitsch.

There are a few if you google. I have done a little test and one shows more stuff than others but cannot find it since google started acting like a berk.

This is something that's straight forward to do - ebay provide the tools. Needs a bit of poking about to produce what Martin's done, which is why he's got one up and running and for me it's still an idea to get round to later this year.

There's a money spinner..... if it weren't I'd have not bothered adding it to my list.

Google retired two of their API calls recently and let loose the API that makes this tool possible. And that's the thing with stuff like this - you get something working, then something changes and it breaks overnight - and you need to be on the ball to get it fixed. And I am not able to be that on the ball....

I am 100% sure if I wait a free working script will drop in my lap in the next 6 months.
