Either you have mega appliances and the wiring to go with it or you mean kw and not kwh. Spinning will always use a lot less energy than drying but may make the ironing harder. WE always spin everything at 1600.
I was also thinking that you need to bring in ironing cost when comparing to tumble drying.
I tend to spin my clothes at 900 speed, take it all out straight away, give it a shake, stick it on a hanger on one of those things I linked to in the old npt thread from Dunelm Mill. That way I only need to iron certain things (linen trousers are a prime example) while the rest can just be hung up in the spare room and put away when dry. It's something like this one from Minky, but mine were own brand and about 1/3rd of the price:

Agree with Pastures. Heating is always more expensive than moving, so the spin should help a lot. But you could work out exactly how much you could save by timing how long you take to dry tumble two equivalent loads of washing, one that has had the extra spin and one that hasn't. (Sorry, can't help thinking that way.
Ohhh a scientific experiment in silvercar's washing machine! Must have controlled conditions - need to use exactly the same load of washing and ensure ambient temperature precisely controlled.0 -
I just shove my clothes in turn it on and hope the mrs is bored enough to hang it up to dry and iron as necessary. Never ever works.0

Yes, yes I do. Cat believe those stupid coppers played into my hands so easily, turning a protest noone would have paid a second of attention to into an international news item.
I am a genius!0 -
It was indeed a magical time, .
My main memory of the 60s/70s was the glamour of TV switching to colour. TV became like the cinema!....but over everything hung the feeling that we wouldn't get to see our 30s, so the nostalgia has to be tempered by that ....
I still remember my friend saying, "See you tomorrow" at the time of the Cuban missile crisis.
Without thiking about it, I replied, "If there is a tomorrow!"
All this new news frenzy about North Korea's rocket reminds me of the 70's/80's mood that missiles could destroy us, but rockets might save us. I remember in the late 80s talking to a cleaner in the college where I worked, and agreeing with her idea that our best hope was to get a base on Mars before “it was too late” and the US/SU annihilated us all
Now where can I get a ”Watchmen” smiley for the end of this post? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
