When I was younger I always wanted to go heli-boarding in Geogia, some Austrians had built a hotel and were using Russian choppers. Never did it before family when I had the income and lack of responsibilities and the n Georgian border lands are not the world's most stable spot any more so it will never happen now.

I did read up quite a lot about the country tho - sounds like a great tourist destination should the time ever be right.
    I think....

I was born in the 70's...just.

My 40th was a quiet affair, the original plan was to have a party but money was against me, so then it was going to be a smaller party round my parents after all of us going out. In the end, it was me and the boys going for a less posh meal as dad was in hospital after having his strokes (had his first stroke 5 days before my birthday, his 2nd stroke 3 days before my birthday)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Mine wasn't. :(

I'm not going into the detail, but there was a re-union with an ex-girlfriend, which totally messed with my head for a year or so afterwards. Nothing bad happened, but sometimes it's better not to revisit the past, and particularly when crossing into so-called 'middle-age!'

    My 50th was a lot better. :)

For my 40th, OH passed me an envelope with the comment, "shall we have an Italian meal tomorrow night?" inside were flight tickets to Milan!

I understood the route .... but can't understand why measuring only one of the cables would make the meter work.

If you measure mains in .... it knows how much it's got .... but it won't know how much has been used. If you measure mains out, it knows how much it's got, but it wouldn't know how much it started with. So how does it know how much is being used?

It only takes what it uses, IYSWIM (just like how you can watch your meter go faster when you turn stuff on)

Think of it like a stretch of flowing water in a pipe. What is going in is also what is going out. So measuring at any part will be the same "flow"
All the cables are part of the same flow. :)
Ah, yes that made sense... it was the bit about watching a meter that made it all go CLUUUNK.

    Cheers

When sss555s says think of it like water flowing through a pipe, he's right. It's not a pipe supplying you with water to use that doesn't go back again. It's like water flowing round a closed system to make water wheels turn to power your appliances. If you know how much water's gone past (and back out again) and you know what pressure the water was supplied at, you can find out how much energy your wheels have used up.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Not a great start to the day. DD was in hospital and they found a second kidney stone as big as the first. :(
And she's got important exams looming, with this hanging over her.

For my 18th, nothing happened. No party, nothing going on.
21st... nothing happened. No party, spent the evening sitting in my car alone watching traffic.
30th... nothing happened. Nobody cared. No party.
40th.... 200 miles from home, boss where I was working on a 3 month contract invited me to the pub and proceeded to show me his family holiday snaps. Two cokes and I went home.
    50th .... nothing happened.

For birthdays I get about 2-3 cards as a rule. Never go out.

Most people make noises when they hear that and say "Oh, but you MUST do something... we'll do something next year..." and next year, everybody's too busy, nobody can make it .... so I stopped asking.

I think my last birthday party was probably when I was 10. I'd have some friends from our road round for tea usually. sandwiches, jelly, squash, cake. Pass the parcel.

Oh no. At least they know what it is and can sort it.

If its any help, OH had a second kidney stone a few weeks after the first and then no more for 10years.

The general advice for avoidance is to drink lots, OH now drinks an extra litre of water a day deliberately.

    I didn't know you were 50 yet.

I don't remember having an 18th, OH ( then a BF rather than an OH) planned a surprise party for my 21st.

    30th I was pregnant and puking:o
