When he's finished paying the mortgage will you stop buying him food? :D

Great idea! Unfortunately we'll just find another way to split, like one buying the food the other paying all the bills.

I pay the rent/mortgage and the bills, and buy the food. And cook, clean, carry, lift, decide, sort out, wash, do the paperwork..... and ....

There's not even somebody that can climb up on the wonky chair to put the electricity cards into the slot (LL when I moved in said 'you might not be able to reach that' .... but I couldn't live a life where I needed somebody to come round to stick cards in the meter.... stupid place for it up by the ceiling!!!)

I'm not convinced that, 'Ooooh me goat' would have been as successful a catchphrase.

Probably would have gone down well around here though. :)

Most people in the village have sat in the pub or their front parlour, looked out the window and uttered that cry, with appropriate variations. e.g. heifer, bullock, ram etc.
This morning thinking about my shadey bit i have been considering some epimediums. Googling image shows some that must be exotic and not suitable for my cold garden!
The ones I had were all tough as old boots and one of the few things I could get to grow under leylandii. Dunno about those posh hybrids; all new to me.

I'm a mushroom lover , although I baulked at my puffballs last year. :o Their wizened, brown bodies are still rolling around here, spreading millions of spores. As the sheep ate the grass, so the puffballs were liberated, like desert tangleweed. I found one last week, over 200metres from where it started out.

Here the cats kill them before i can get to them. Sometimes the chickens wrestle the cats for the meat. I have even seen the dog kill a mouse.

If only someone would kill the horrid rats.

I think I said elsewhere that I was shocked to see our chickens fighting over a huge vole one of them had caught. Mostly, they just settle for leaping up to catch flies; something they're surprisingly good at.

They will happily turn a blind eye corvids nicking their food though! :(

No rats bothering us, but a partially feral cat living in the thatcher's barn probably helps out. It's the moles that drive us crazy.

(+1 mushrooms) - we seem to check this every few months, does someone work for the mushroom marketing board?

I think we just think its funny jb.

We should try another like dislike too soon...

Here's one...'.ice and lemon' yes or no. No in soft drinks, sometimes lemon only in water for me, usually no in hard drinks, except clear or white ones, or long summer ones.two cubes is enough.

Ice and lemon to me is a context-specific issue. In this country, where drinks would otherwise be tepid at the best of times, its an absolute yes. In America on the other hand, where unless you ask for light ice you get a zillion ice cubes and a thimble full of fluid that would have been cold anyway its a bit pointless.

With a Bloody Mary lemons are a prerequisite. Otherwise I'm not too fussed though I do like it isn't a deal breaker.

You know, as i thought about my answer i became more intrigued realising my own likes are more comples than i thought. I agree, ice is not what you pay for, hate a glass full of ice and no drink.

Also i do not like a cold hit of drink into an empty stomach, find it a bit disconcerting:o.

Generally i choose no ice at a new place anyway, even if i might want ice, becuase ice often tastes really unpleasant, so i will always try a sip of dh's to see if on a hot day the place is ice friendly.:o:D

Lemons and ice ... both get in the way when you're trying to drink .... and they water down a drink.

I'm a "no ice, no lemon" person - especially as, in most pubs, you get a bigger drink that way,.
