We looked to test drice the original cmax, got there and found it to be so tiny despite being longer than our current car that we didn't bother to go any further.

Some eletric slidy doors look like they take ages to open and close - is this true or is it just an optical illusion?

We have two cars that are almost the same but one is petrol and one diesel. THe petrol on is 6 years older and doesn't have rear parking beeps whereas the diesel we use most of the time does. When driving the petrol I have come close to reveersing in to things at a fairly good rate as I now jst expect to hear the beeps as I get near anything...
    I think....

I find beebs and cameras no use. In the borrowed car i have this weekend i recently learned either beebs or camera, cannot remember which, was not doing the bit i thought it was, which maybe why i ignore.

Still, might have stopped me reversing our car into something a couple of months ago!

Because our car is not running well i am looking at others in a 'would that suit us ' frame of mind.

The new Nissan qashqui has 4 cameras! One on each side, for true 360 degree visibility. Not that I want a qashqui.

Straight sides for PN would be a Nissan cube, though mega ugly.

I used to drive a lorry without power steering. Never again. Never ever again. My back being knackered removes the mobility i have!

You are Amy 'Triple A' Allen and I claim my £5.

I don't think we're that posh. I do have power steering and have had my car from new, but its now pretty old. However I don't see any need to change it. It starts first time, I get in it, I drive to where I want to go. It passes its MOT each year (well has until now when the goalposts changed but fingers crossed) and my mechanic says its fine. What more do I need?

I was a car snob when I was younger but now it just seems like an endless wave of depreciation and not very MSE at all.

Just had a look at that, it's like a big Postman Pat's van.

When I bought my car I was very limited due to lack of dealers/stock, in fact, I just googled Nissan and it seems the one dealer in the county is in a tiny village I've never even been to. So I never saw any Nissans.

I did originally look at something whose name I forget - a dealer advertised it in the paper, I googled it and saw the shape and thought "that'll do", so I turned up at the dealers and the vehicle was at their other dealership 100 miles away, so I had to wait a week to be able to see it and give it a test drive. Needless to say, it's very difficult buying any car when it's all done like that. There were very few cars in the county that would do, so had to just take the first one that came up at about the right price.

I couldn't have kept doing 400 mile round trips to go to view cars up country.

Just watching the paper review this morning. One headline says "You Have No Right To Wear the Cross", another says something along the lines of "Catholics Furious Over Gay Marriage". Why can't common sense prevail?

Of course people should be allowed to wear the cross if they want to. Seriously, in a nominally Christian country, who is offended by a practice that's happened for donkeys years. It certainly isn't any Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or any other religious group I know of (in this country).

At the same time, gay marriage. I understand what the bible says, but I don't have an issue with gay marriage. Surely the issue should be that no church should be forced to perform a gay marriage, rather than it being allowed as a civil service. I say this because non-religious people have been able to marry in registry offices for ages. I can see a reason why the church is worried though: that it could be the thin end of the wedge and they could be forced into something they are fundamentally against. Clearly this is where the common-sense backstop is.

Where is our famous British common sense and tolerance going? Why can't common sense prevail. Telling people they can't wear crosses just causes fracture and distress. Telling gays they can't marry does the same.

Sorry NPs for introducing a fractious subject to the board. If it causes dissent or nastiness can I suggest dropping subject immediately. However everyone here is a reasonable person and I just don't understand how the country as a whole has got into this mess.
