Youngest was using movie maker too...but he appears to have lost interest in animation and is now building houses and castles on Mindcraft (yes I know it is a game but he was using it as a planning tool)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I am a bit blue today.....

Can any nice people suggest things that cheer them up?

Getting warm and cosy and reading a newspaper

Setting little goals of 15 minutes of activity so that I do feel I have done something when I am low on energy

shopping- farm shop butchers, greengrocers, iron mongers ( I can get quite absorbed in selecting a scrubby thing for saucepans or a new bucket)

Baking - usually meat pies for the freezer ( makes me feel successful provider of home made food)

    Seeing/ speaking with good friends

Visualising a happy time I have had.

I don't personally use anything. It's my son, who's 11. He uses Gimp to edit the photos, and WMM 6.0 to make them into movies.

What problems is your DD having?

There seems to be black lines through moving scenes and it seems to be very temperamental.

Her laptop is a i5 and she tried it on my PC (i7) so I doubt if it's the hardware.

What I did notice when I came back to my PC, she had downloaded a load of file conversion and other software. Maybe it's not all comparable as my hard drive was still running when I got to it.

    I uninstalled the lot! :A

Edit: There is a forum (loads with the same problem) I bookmarked and did see some "set up" things there I could try but just wondered if you had different software.

A question for NP. Yesterday in the post I received a small padded envelope containing 2 sb SD/micro sd adaptors (pt your SD/microSD in one end, plag the other end in to the usb on a pc). Nothing else in the envelope, appears to be from china/hk.

Thing is I have no recollection of ordering such a thing and can't find any record of having done so. The only thing I can think is may be it was some sort of freebie offer but again neither my memory or google are beign of any help.

Any thoughts on how to find out what this is from?
    I think....

DS isn't using any file conversion stuff. Just digital camera, Gimp, WMM. He does stop motion animation with Lego. What kind of things is your DD doing? What file conversions? What kind of movies?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

She's into gymnastics so it's gymnastic clips with music.

To be honest I'm not sure what conversions she's having to do but it's for youtube.

Everything seems right except on longer videos she gets black lines coming into it and something she was using before was crashing her laptop.

I did mean to use the forum to set everything up properly as a lot of people seem to have similar issues but she's been drawing manga type characters the last couple of days.

Silvercar, why do you need to mirror your old PC to your new PC?

Why not embrace the new operating system, add your required software and copy all your stuff (music, pictures, documents etc) to DVD/CD and put them on your new PC.
    Whaatttt?????

    Chaaaannnnge????

I can see it now, undoing one gripping finger (with posh nail varnish) at a time :D

I'm planning ahead, the current PC is working fine but going to die, so I need to back up before it dies.

Second problem is getting the software to work on the new machine, in particular Microsoft Office. I have the disks, but the "key" has been used 3 times as per licence limit, it is on my desktop and both boys machines, so that is it - it won't let me load it on another machine. No way of telling it that one machine is a replacement for the other.

Also I don't know how to backup things like emails or contacts, so a mirror image would be easier.

Old's been playing gymnastics ... and has injuries to boot.... as I've literally just been informed.

Won't be rushing over there, it's akin to a kid scraping a knee at school really in the big scheme of whether to worry/panic or not.

They don't go into a care home for the likes of me to be rushing over every time they sneeze..... old's in good hands 24/7. Let the professionals do their job.

I'm sorry guys, I just don't think I am nice enough to post here.

If anyone wants to set up a beastly and bad tempered thread I would be most interested.

Challange yourself. How nice can you be if you really try?
