Thanks Pastures, that's like the panel in old windows, but I can't get to it from mine. Everything I've googled doesn't work. My favourite answer that I've found so far - to paraphrase - was "sack all the microsoft programmers who've come up with this cr&p solution, get some decent ones in and put it in the next version" sadly this hasn't happened yet even though there are people all over the internet complaining.
However, having given up on trying to do a Windows search in Windows, I've downloaded some freeware this morning called Super Finder XT which looks like its going to do the trick - it allowed me to run the search anyway - and is currently trundling through the files. I downloaded it from CNET. The options in it are waaaaay better than the stupid windows ones. Will let you know how I get on.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I've still got a search button on Windows 7....
Me too, it just doesn't do as much as the old one. For example, if I had called a document NPT Single Sue.doc or SingleSue.xls I'd be able to find it. What it won't do is give me the ability to search within my files for SingleSue when I don't know which file I need to search in.
Hopefully found the solution now though. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I'd recommend Swanage. Nice microclimate and strange tides. Also, only a few miles to Studland, where you can let it all hang out as you look at Old Harry.0 -

If you are not a crow, that puts you around Weymouth.

I think the train doesn't whizz off down there.... it's on a branch line. I kind of fancied walking distance to the train station, so probably 0.5-1mile from one and being able to easily use the train, rather than having to wait for local services to eventually arrive somewhere where I'd have to change.
Just peeked, it's a steam/tourist train, not a proper one....
If you look at Swanage on Google maps .... looks like somebody dug a big earth wall round it hundreds of years ago. Big obvious ridge.... bound to be a historian round these parts that'll point out some huge battle I should have known about0 -

Ah, I'm with you now.
Would you believe that I had never used the search function until I had this laptop...I have been online since 2001 and this laptop is only a year old! So that would probably account for why I didn't quite understand what you was having a problem with.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Here's train madness. Just looking up whether it's possible for me to get to the new area by train, mid week in 4-5 weeks, for comparison....
By car: £50 return fuel cost. Say £35 return for vehicle wear/tear cost. One way journey time 3 hours.
By train: £108-214. Journey time 8 hours each way.
Mad isn't it. And that's on the mainline. Loads of train changes too.... looks like a straight line on the map0 -
My moving budget is about £5k as I'll need to be paying up front for rent etc. Moving's not cheap is it.0

Well it took a while to run, but my free download worked. I think it might work inside .asp and .php files because you can look for a text string as well as an indiviudal word. Give it a shot and let me know how you get on, at least you'll be set for next year;).Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
