I know this will shock you all but I wear a watch like this:

Normally you can get them for about a fiver, they last 2 years before the strap breaks (batteries last much longer). They have a light and alarm, can be worn in the sea or wherever and you couldn't care less if they get scratched, paint on or whatever.

I had one of those when I was at primary school. So did everyone else I think. Ahhh those were the days, every single person's watch going "beep beep" 2 seconds apart every quarter of an hour. Makes the odd mobile phone ring seem bearable.

I'm completely lost on this... I've never spent more than £5 on a watch. There are better things to spend my money on.

Everyone can say that about something I guess. Everything the mrs buys looks like a waste of money to me, especially of its coming out of the joint account.

May be the interview could be more interactive - I'm sure if it was Oxford you could just hand out a packet of seeds, see what the candidates say or do and make the correct decision...
    I think....

can't you just wing the interview?

q1: why do you want to do this [job/placement/project]
q2: what are you brining to be party / why should we accept you?
    q3: ask some technical question
    q4: recent developments
q5: so do you have any questions for me?

job done, throw the seeds in the bin and stick the telly on.

Our first small wildflower bed is ready to sow, and i don't have my sweet peas done het, i have beautiful ones i have never grown before this year.

Mean time, i sprayed my roses this weekend, something i have never done before, and i think they hate me, their leaves aphave all gone dry ans crunchy and miserable.

planted on the carnations that arrived in the post today. 15 broad beans, some sweet peas, now looking at toms, chillies, aubs, etc. I'm a bit late this year. and we're going away for 6 days in mid-March. At least if the seedlings are small, I can keep them alive for a bit longer...
