That's a relief, did they identify the problem?
Yes it was something more treatable, as we discussed earlier.

Dh and i have asked friends to be referrees for us for adoption and have decided to apply this weekend.

We can of course decide its not for us as we go along. and its higly likely we'll be turned down becuase of my health, Health is a big thing in the guidelines. I feel both excited and ....a little scared.

Exciting! Do you have any plan in your mind about e.g. whether you would only want to adopt a newborn baby, or is this more sticking yourself on the "list" to give yourself a push towards deciding what you want to do?

If I was doing it, I would prepare a detailed spreadsheet modelling the costs of adoption, and conclude that my target was to adopt a child aged roughly 17 and 364 days, then kick them out the next day. Job done. Parenting ticked off the list.

Rofl. I have thoguht aout adopting pn if she would have us!

Yes, we Are sticking ourselves on the list at this stage. Although the thing that finally prompted us to do this now is a little boy on one of the frightful adopting dating style webistes. He is much older than i thought would be what we would want, and i absolutely undertsand we will mot get a chance to see him....as adopting approval takes so long and i sure hope he has a home long before we are approved, but i saw this little boy and thought ' i could love you' and then read his 'profile' and thoguht perhaps you could love us.

Its worth saying, we have discussed it a little with my parents. My dad is adamant he thinks we should 'get a baby' and my mother thinks we should get another cat.

We used to have the thin duvet (synthetic to start with and then feather later) over both of us, with a single duvet on top, just on my side.

Mrs. Wheezy has a memory foam mattress topper + approximately 7 pillows + 80% of a duvet + extra blankets when needed.

I have the other 20% of the duvet.

Ooooh exciting. Having seen you with my kids I think you'd be fantastic parents, but yes, I can see why social services will want to think long and hard about your health before they accept you.

They may ask you to consider a child with health problems. I have a friend who's infertile because of a genetic issue and was thinking of adopting. When I told my former-social-worker friend about it, she said my genetically unusual friend and his wife might well be invited to consider adopting a genetically unusual child, because they would have insight into the issues, so maybe something similar will be applied to you.

Sorry, I have nothing much to suggest about the laptop with stuff spilt into it, except that it's better not to try switching it on at all until it's dried out.

I have a (very minor) problem myself. I mentioned a while ago that I had ordered some butterfly lampshades. Well, they came today. I put them up, and then dismantled the packaging for recycling. At first sight the lampshades are lovely.

But after a minute or two I noticed what looked like some ugly scribbles - rings around the numbers on the bottom of the printed panels, and smaller crosses.

On closer inspection they turned out to be part of the printed design. I don't like them. I suspect that now I have seen them, they will grab my attention and irritate me every time I see them lightshades. Being on the bottom, they are the bit we will see most of if we sit at the dining table under the lights.

So, should I send them back, despite having already dismantled the packaging. I bought them online, so they're covered by the distance selling regulations and I'm entitled to a refund - is that right???

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
