Coldest night ever here, people with fancy weather station gizmos are putting photos on Facebook of temperatures dropping to -9 last night, -15 in exposed places.

Yeah, was certaonly one of the two coldest nights here too...loo froze again. This time the water in the bowl had frozen too. Thankfully i had!'t uses it and tried to flush before realising this time...that was terrible last week! The chicken water froze too....i forgot to leave it near the lamp. Nudged along a couple of feet into the la,p and all is well!

But the day hasn't been the coldest. Other days have stayed totally ground hard. There is a little thaw in the top layer today. Nopt much, and we still have snow on the ground in lots of places, but not the worst day. Poor dh has carried buckets and buckets and buckets today. We are hoping the thaw expected tomorrow afternoon comes so we can turn the metre back on, refill totally and then turn off again for next week!

It feels colder this evening than it did this mrning. I keep forgetting my gloves, and have to take them off any way to break ice in the trough. My hands are suffering. Myrit hand in particular, which i probably dunk more readily, looks about ten years older than the other hand. We have a plug in heater on upstairs for the bathroom, and when we bath we will put it in the bedroom, then tonight i can have a proper attack at rough bits with a salt scrub and slather on the body moisturiser. Its been too cold to contemplate putting cold pots of cream on my body.

We were -15C here in 2010/11, while down in the valley they reached -19C.

Here, it's better to be on a ridge or at least up a slope, as the cold air rolls down into the relatively narrow valleys. There are not many villages in the valleys. ;)

Not too bad ATM. I'm expecting -4C or so tonight.:D

Ohh, befor moving special girl to tuhe fields down the hill from us i kept her in a neighbouring valley. It was awful. Iced over every morning, and the stupid peopple used to hose down the yard every nipafternoon before leaving, none of them arrived before nine but i used to arrive at six. One day special grl fell on the ice. There was no yard gate either, otherwise it would have been safer to let them find their own way to the field. Hated that place. It was on the market and it was tempting in that the land formed a bowl around the house, there was a business to buy...not horses another agri one, and the horse one! And it was at the right price when we started looking...but the cold and the fact it was a one bed accomodation with certain to be hard anning put us off. Thank fully!

Irrationally, I still hanker after a place in a sheltered spot, by a stream. :o

Some years ago we looked at this one, but it needed too much work and it was heavily overlooked by its larger neighbour. That didn't bother the occupants, because they were closely related, but it bothered us! :rotfl:

Beautiful! I would like a river really, being such a keen wild swimmer. If we ever move that will be on my list.

Here's a piccie I took there, standing in the stream. Camera data says the snap's date is January 2009.

I'm not sure that the property ever sold.

Grr. No bath for me. :( looks as if we have frozen some where in drains. Not sure how that is possible in most places. What is exposed is vertical, and what is underneath is well underneath. So now i am worried we have a blockage. Dh just found the washing machine not able to drain.

Edit: he fixed it, the u bend leading from the machine was frozen, so all fixed now!
