I Sat On Swanage Cliffs Eating Lovely Egg Sandwiches

My kids could always spell isosceles. :D

SUNWAC. When I was a child, my (Devon) teacher insisted that we all know the rivers of Yorkshire!

I still know them: Swale, Ure, Nidd, Wharfe, Aire, Calder. :A
(And a fat lot of good it does me!)

Blimey. Was their school so hardcore as to bully kids who couldn't remember how to spell [STRIKE]isoskile[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]isosell[/STRIKE] isosceles? :D

Survived the meeting last night.....just. Had to follow elderly lady in V6 Range Rover along our road and then down some obscure lane, but had serious trouble keeping up with her. The journey ended at a real farmhouse in a place called Nomansland.

Everyone listened very well and enjoyed the pictures of the plants etc, but predictably, we ended-up discussing hens, pigs and sheep. :)

No, but as we used to go to Swanage, they found out it was a lie. Mr Snave would never sit atop the 200' cliffs at Swanage, eating lunch with 70 kids. He would make 'em wait until they reached the safety of Studland (where there was a very nice cafe :D)

Edit: Oh, sorry, I see what you mean now. When teachers say 'My kids' they frequently mean other people's kids. :o

Lots of restaurant money off vouchers in my inbox over the last 24 hours. They're clearly concerned that weather will affect business.

I learnt the clef ones and rainbow one when I was little, but others have already mentioned those.

My mum taught me "No Plan Like Yours To Study History Wisely" for Norman, Plantagenet, Lancastrian, Yorkist, Tudor, Stuart, Hanoverian, Windsor.

DD knows quite a lot of this for kings and queens.

PS Well done michaels - Pluto has been reclassified as a planetoid, or minor planet, or dwarf planet, or something along those lines. There are other things like it out there, and it was decided that it was better to reclassify Pluto (which has always been rather different from the 8 that are still major planets) than to keep letting the other things be called major planets too, as they get discovered.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

If only there was a mnemnenonic to remind you how to spell mnneneonmic.

All I can remember us the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy hare, which is not a mnenneomic.

Keep Ponds Clean or Frogs Get Sick

Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species. (the outgoing classification hierarchy for living things).

Might have to change it to Do Keep Ponds Clean or Frogs Get Sick.
