Now it's mascara, under eye concealer, foundation, blusher, lipstick. If I'm in a rush I just use mascara and under eye stuff.

Under eye concealer. Didn't need it in my 20s. Am aware I look old and ill if I don't have any now. :(

This is the driest cold spell we've ever had, the temperature was -2 this morning but the cars weren't even iced over!

Same here. I've never known it be so cold with so little ice.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Now I'm going to do a PN:

I'm outdoors in my shirtsleeves this morning. :D

Did I hear something about snow?
I've had a culture shock this morning.... had to leave at the crack of 9am ..... and the car was frozen solid!! Not seen that for years.

So there I was, scratching it off with my Matalan card.... and it was in two layers. Took me ages... in the end, I just did "enough to be sort of safe", so I could drive down the road and round the corner to the car park, where I could park facing the early morning sun, which burnt it all off in 10 minutes.

Its weird here. Everything is frozen, but not too cold. The first trough is finally empty thoguh, just ice, so i have broken up the ice and removed it, and with it came the dirt from the trough....a job done nicely, the critters now have access to the front yard and another two troughs, And i have one more in reserve for total emergengy.
Is there such a thing as a Solar Trough Water Heater? That you can just bung in and generate enough heat to stop troughs icing over.... if not, you could make one and corner the market :)

Isn't solar dodgiest when you'd need it to defrost a trough?

I have taken a gamble and left my car in the open tonight. This probably means snow or rain is imminent. Sorry.

The troughs are still pretty solid, but the cake has thawed in patches. The geese hadn't noticed and had gone way down into the summer grazing, annoyingly the ground has also thawed, so had to slip and slide down to them to round them up.

It is raining here. All the salt/grit that the groundskeepers were putting round school this afternoon will be washed away before the snow comes, if any snow ever comes anyway.
