SNOWWWWWWW
Still felt like I shouldn't have cancelled my day trip though. most annoyed at the bbc forecast
They claim they are always right, just sometimes in the wrong location and the wrong time. So heavy snow in the Midlands today could be heavy snow, but in Yorkshire tomorrow!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I think Samsung give good quality for the money. We have 2 Samsung TVs and whereas the quality is not as good as our Sony, it is pretty good for the price.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I think i would rather have an implant. They said veneers have a life of a anout ten years, well...its five years or so since they forst tried to get me to get one, so mse to have delayed so far as my own tooth is ok.
I've had long discussions with my dentist about veneers. Once you go down that road you are stuck with replacing them every 10 years or so. To get veneers to "stick" they shave the edge enamal off your tooth, so the integrity of your tooth is damaged. For ever. I'll get veneers when the technology has moved forward so that your own tooth remains undamaged -a bout 10-15 years time my dentist reckons.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'd never rely on the BBC forecast. There are so many micro-climates everywhere that you have to learn what yours is, then make up your own mind what'll really happen.
I use www.netweather.co.uk can get a very good forecast.
Still snowing quite a lot here, good night all.0 -
We have snow too, had a light dusting when we awoke this morning and had on and off snow all day but not enough to shout about but as predicted, it came down tonight.
I however, decided I was going to ignore the warnings and go round to my brother's as planned, we did leave a little earlier than planned as I knew the real bad stuff would be arriving here at around midnight and I was glad I did as the drive home was 'interesting' after it had been snowing for around 2 hours.
Eldest arrived home from the pub about an hour ago, so he was walking home in the real bad stuff...his feet kept disappearing and he looked like a snowman when he walked in.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I have found an NHS dentist and am about to try the place out next week. If I get on OK with them I will book appts for the kids.
For me, it's definitely worth the hassle of trying to find an NHS one. The children get their dentistry free on the NHS, so that saves a lot of money, and if I can find a dentist who's good enough for them, then it makes sense for me to go there too. My teeth are reasonably good - I had a lot of orthodontic work done in my teens, but since I've been grown-up I've never needed anything more complicated than an amalgam filling in a back tooth, and I've only got 5 of those.
The big disadvantage of NHS dentists in my experience is the high turnover. If you go back after 6 months, there's about a 50% chance that the person you saw last time will have left and you'll need to see somebody different.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
God, drAmas here with weather last night. When we cMe in in the evening there was snow, a thickish dusting, about an inch. By thebtime we went out for lates it has turned to rain, and was lethally slippery.
We have a LOT of concrete, both bewteen us and the animals and that the horses have access too, and horses , or me, plus ice are a potentially lethal mix. So we spread aout five barrows of grit got soaked and freezing. Also, the horses were not in the barn, so dh went tramping of into the dark to fond them, and they had trashed through all the electric fencing.....so we ended up making the fields as safe as we could in the middle of the night.
To top it all, there was some very alarming exercise going on on salisbury plain, Not sure what it was but the sky was bright orange above it.
Some how there is stoll some snow on the hills and plain this morning, ans there was no need to grit last noght......its mild here this morning!0 -
Oh, and a soft shell egg and a nother laid egg by lates from the slavation army, This morniong twommore eggs from them and three from our lot and one was laying while i was out there. Hopefully our lazy girls have seen the future if they fail to perform, and shariong the eggs is the lesser of two evils!0

About 6 inches of snow here.
Roads were very icy last night. We ended up walking half way and being picked up with friends in their 4x4.
The one day of the year when they justify having a 4x4! Though they drive it like scaredy cats and kept saying they wished they had walked.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Seriously dejunking the study today. Replacing the desk that was solid MDF and totally blocked the heat from the radiator behind it, with a swish glass number. So the heat can get into the room but no storage within.
So now I have the task of dejunking the rest of the room to make room from all the junk that was stored in the desk.
I've discovered 3 old digital cameras, a Sony Walkman that took little discs, an old tomtom that works.
What do you do with perfectly useable stuff that technology has bypassed? Seems a shame to dump, doubt there is an eBay market and I need the space.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
