  • It's probably time to think about other options. I know you said the father isn't on the scene any more, so it must be hard. But he is contributing financially, yes? And at your age, is it fair to presume there are now two sets of doting grandparents who may be able to help you out? I'm sure they won't want you and your daughter stuck in the middle of nowhere without reliable transport?

The only other practical suggestion is could you move further into town and be a bit nearer the shops/buses/GP, etc? It must be really tough managing on your own and every little thing that makes life easier would be a massive help I'm sure.

:) Unfortunately my parent's have no money as my dad has found out that he has to go on disability allowance so my step-mum can barely afford to run her car let alone help me with one. And my mum is a single-mother herself, on two jobs and trying to pay off a mortgage. So that's a no-go area. I am waiting on my local council to give me a house closer to town. So thankyou but I have thought of the options :)

I was earning enough before being made redundant so it doesn't.
If you were earning enough to support a family, you must have savings, what has happened to these?

    Hmm.

And you complain that other posters are sarcastic?

    Sorry, shouldn't have said it.

Because i don't live close to any towns or doctors so if my baby is ill then i can't get her to a hospital very quickly.
    1. Pick up that really expensive iPhone or Blackberry (So you can post your BB pin everywhere)

    2. dial 999 (or 112 if you like)

    3. ask for an ambulance

    4. give the nice person the information they need

    5. ambulance turns up

    6. ???

    7. profit

Bin the car and get a small motorbike/moped/scooter.

I'm not surprised the OP was sarcastic. Where is she supposed to put a 6 week old baby on a motorbike/moped/scooter??

I would pick up that really expensive iPhone or Blackberry to dial 999, but I think they're the worst phone's anyone could have. I prefer android phone's but unfortunately, I can't afford them either. So thanks for the advice.

You can't have had much in the way of savings then. I assume you got everything second hand or from freecycle and the like, as you can't afford to be picky in your situation. Beggars can't be choosers as they say.

You mention you are studying - what for, and where? Have you asked at the school / college / university if there is any help available? There also might be local charities that can help, if you are still in education.
  • Argh! Can we stop the sniping comments! We all make our own choices and live with the consequences of those.

    Onwards and upwards.

OP, as I said earlier, give it a go at saving a portion of your benefits money each month (or is it weekly they are paid? sorry I have no idea!) whilst you are waiting to be rehoused. I can understand the spend on the bubba from your savings before, but you may be able to build a bit back up which will give you some funds towards a better car too.
