What a horrible thread.
This poor girl is only 19 and has a SIX week old baby. Her car is causing her problems and she is asking questions about how she could possibly afford a new car.
She has not said she deserves a car, she asked a question. She has found out she is unlikely to be able to get a new car. Why are people being so horrible to her?
If my car broke down, I would look into options of being able to buy a new car. If I then found out I couldnt afford one, then so be it. She was gaining information.0 -
Responsible, you mean?
Just because I am nineteen and have a 6 week old daughter. Does not mean that I am not responsible, as I have said to others you don't know me so please stop judging me. I am not your average teenager who goes out drinking every night and dumps their kid on their parents every time they want to get wasted. I have good grades, thanks. I know how to use a washing machine and a hoover, and I do know where the sink and cleaning liquids are. Just because I am a single parent does not mean that I had a few one night stands and don't know which one's the dad. Like I said, I wanted my daughter. And yes, I will get a job when I can. But while can't, I'm doing extra study courses to help me get a better, well paid job when I can. So thanks for the sarcasm, but it didn't really help.0 -

Thankyou to people who have answered my question with an honest answer without having a go at me. To others - I was merely asking a question and my question was 'Is there any company that would give me a loan while on benefits?' You do not need to have a go at me because I said that I needed a car. Maybe I shouldn't have said it, I realise that. I have also realised that I can't get a loan while on benefits so can you all stop telling me that I do not need a car or I need to learn to save. Yes, I am only nineteen and have a daughter. But that does not mean that I didn't think or the consequences before not sticking something on the end of it.0

I was earning enough before being made redundant so it doesn't.0 -

Where am I supposed to put my daughter, in a basket on the front?0 -
It's probably time to think about other options. I know you said the father isn't on the scene any more, so it must be hard. But he is contributing financially, yes? And at your age, is it fair to presume there are now two sets of doting grandparents who may be able to help you out? I'm sure they won't want you and your daughter stuck in the middle of nowhere without reliable transport?
The only other practical suggestion is could you move further into town and be a bit nearer the shops/buses/GP, etc? It must be really tough managing on your own and every little thing that makes life easier would be a massive help I'm sure.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
