So basically she shouldn't let people know.
Not when applying for jobs, just as I don't put 'heterosexual fertile white woman' on my job applications!
Once she gets the job she can decide if she wants to tell people or not, but its a lot harder for employers to discriminate against her once she's actually working for them.0 -
she doesn't need to disclose it - many applications don't want you to disclose much personal info, I was told to take my DOB etc off my CV as it shouldn't affect whether you get to the next stage.0

At the interview everything was going well but then when she told them that she was transgender the face dropped but changed to all smiles again and said "i would rather have my staff live near by".
.
I can't imagine at what stage in an interview this would be an appropriate remark to make!0 -
Is she physically still female but dresses as a male? Or has she had all the treatment necessary to change her from female to male?So basically she shouldn't let people know.
The reason I ask is that you refer to her as female..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

If she is living as female, she applies to the job as a female and so turn up as a female. She should not disclose her trans status. She may need to disclose after a job offer is made if her documents are still in the wrong name/sex, but she can avoid this by making sure all documents are right now. Similarly some jobs will ask for previous names (for CRB checks). The only other reason she would need to disclose is with references, if the reference is from someone who knew her as male, the simplest thing in that case would be to let the referee know that she is now xxx and can they refer to her as such.
Sounds like she is making a big deal about her transgender status and this is what's putting people off.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
If she regards herself as a woman in everyday life, as she seems to do, then I don't think she should go to interviews dressed as a bloke.
As well as that, some transgender -male to female - people are a bit rubbish at things like clothes, hair, and especially make up. If she's lacking in one of these areas then get her some practical advice - presentation is a big deal at an interview.
Very true. We have a couple of transgender blokes where I work. If the OP's friend dresses like them, there would be no need at all to mention transgender in the interview. It would be blatantly obvious.0 -

By 'transgender blokes' I assume you mean female to male now presenting as men?
If they are actually male to female and presenting as women its very offensive to call them 'blokes'.0
