That is some strong winds ... We have still to get our fence fixed from the last lot of strong winds we had ... We thouight we would wait till the weather changed for the better ( lazy moi.... never... lol ) so i have a wholmeal loaf in the breadmaker ... I'm off out to buy some insulation so hubby can start insulating our basement ... Then i am going to spend some glory time in the garden ... Think i might get some seeds planted :)

Hope the weather calms down for u
  • The weather bomb was literally that. It's caused major havoc around the North Island of NZ. Fallen trees, roofs blown off, a few major landslips and generally left its mark in the way these things usually do. Today has been a completely different day though remarkably calm with clear blue skies and sun! Unfortunately for me I had to work today... :( and on top of that I have now come down with a bad head cold courtesy of DS2... I'm sure it'll do the rounds with Mr F and DS1 no doubt.

So, I roped Mr F into helping with work today. :o We work quite well as a team so all good. He made the most amazing toad in the hole for dinner tonight. I was wanting comfort food, you know the way you do when you're not well and suggested toad in the hole and mash and boy did he deliver. :D Some leftover for tomorrow!

Heading off to bed now with my box of tissues and hope to wake up tomorrow feeling better than today.

Thanks Elantan. Feel slightly better today although still got the sniffles and sneezums. :)

Can you believe after setting ourselves the challenge of not buying any more shop bought bread, our breadmaker kicked the bucket on Saturday. Must have been over working it. :rotfl: So, I hopped on to trademe and managed to buy a second hand one for $85 (about $42) and it makes 4 different sizes of loaves, our old one only did 2 sizes. It even has a fruit and nut compartment that automatically adds them to any bread. So, Mr F is patiently (well not really patient at all) waiting for our first loaf of bread to be finished cooking. Only about 15 mins to go.

I, on the other hand, am heading off to bed. Hopefully a good night's sleep with kick this cold into touch. :rotfl:

Oh and lest I forget, today was a NSD plus we sold our treadmill. So the money will be used to pay off the finance we took out for it and the rest will go into our emergency fund, which is currently non existent. :j

  • Evening all, phew that was a busy day. Headed off this morning to do a 4 hour job then went to the bank and paid in the dosh for the treadmill, :j collected mail from post office, home for a quick bite to eat, over to two new customers' offices to work out details of the new jobs, on to another job (which I could only do a couple of hours work for because they weren't quite ready) before a quick stop at home for a change of clothes before heading out the door to a meet the teachers evening at DS2 school.

It was supposed to be a NSD but I was too knackered to cook tonight so a quick stop at the sm on the way home for pizzas for 4! Will be a NSD tomorrow though, have one job on and hopefully an early(ish) finish.

That's me for today. Take care xx

  • Boy am I tired tonight. Was just chatting to my dad on Skype and could barely keep my eyes open. He said he could tell I was tired. I wonder what gave it away?? The mersey tunnel sized yawns?? :rotfl:

Another busy day. Job took a little longer than I thought it would and was hard going. :( Mr F made chicken fried rice for tea, which was very nice. Shame he doesn't know how to clear up after himself though. :o I'm sure it can't just be me but whenever he makes dinner he seems to use every pan in the house and all the chopping boards.

Was just thinking tomorrow might be a little easier but have so many things to do that it'll probably be just as busy as today.

    Night all. x

  • Today is really not panning out as I'd hoped. DS2 refused to get out of bed this morning and wouldn't tell me what's wrong. Eventually, through lots of questioning he nodded his head when I asked if he had a headache. I actually suspect he has a little sunstroke as his face got quite red yesterday when he tried out for the school football team in the blazing sun. So, he's at home today, being made to drink lots of fluid (something he doesn't do enough of).

I've also just had a call to go back to the job I did yesterday, as there are a couple of minor things that need sorting. Not what I need today.

I was also hoping to head over to tomorrow's job early (ie this afternoon) to get started as it turns out it's a big job and I have to leave early for an appointment for DS2. Hm, not sure if this is going to happen now.

On a positive note, we sold our treadmill at the weekend and I've paid off the finance today. :j Leaving a little leftover in the kitty, to put towards Mr F's car reg which is due on 20th of this month.

Will try and post an update later.

Aww, sorry today isn't doing so well Fluffies, especially if you're still not feeling 100%. Still, at least the treadmill money will cheer you up a bit. Hope DS feels better soon x
