First major gig was Rolling Stones at Birmingham Town Hall. I was 14.
    I rushed the stage.
Didn't realise that the stage was about 2 feet taller than I was. Must have slunk back to my seat very shamefaced.
Went there and back on the bus, alone. Before that I'd been to several local gigs and remember seeing the Spencer Davis Group but the Stones was the biggie.
I saw Bob Dylan too, same venue but that might have been 1965.
Don't think it counts if your Mum or Dad took you or picked you up afterwards.

Lol, reminds me of 2 girls in my class at school who used to do the same. They actually went to Marks ( i think) house and stole a piece of his wall or gate ( cant remember which), they really were that obsessed! Oh the traumas of being a teenager. icon7.gif

I was 17 (I think), went to see Reef in Newport :T Our mates dad drove us all then wandered around till we came out. I remember taking a small plastic bottle of water in with me and being outraged when it got confiscated!!! :rotfl:

The following year my mates dad drove again, but this time he hired out a mini-bus and a larger group of us went to see Foo Fighters. My friend, her boyfriend, and his mates, who were all the cool rock kids at school, and then meek little me haha. Outraged again when they wanted to borrow my black lipstick and they wasted it down by doing makeup on themselves like The Crow :rotfl:Travis supported them (happy poppy Travis before they became Man Who Travis) and pretty much got heckled off the stage.

Also saw Bush there (supported by Symposium if anyone remembers them) I do! I probably saw them about half a dozen times altogether. I've still got their stuff on my ipod now., got kicked in the head by a crowd surfer, so admitted defeat and got raised over the barriers with a banging headache; so missed being right at the front before lovely Gavin Rossdale came on!!

Since then have been to tons at Leeds and Manchester during uni (Therapy?, Idlewild, Rachel Stamp another fab band, they just seemed to disappear though., Terrovision..), now we usally haul our bums to Birmingham as it's closer and most bands play there. That said, we drove up to Derby 2 days before Christmas to see LostAlone, of my favourite bands ever playing a Christmas show.

I was 33 and it was to see JLS icon11.gifhowever I did escort my 10 year daughter and have to say that It was actually quite good!!

Last year I won tickets to the Radio one big weekend , where my ultimate crush, music idol and fantasy boyfriend Dave Grohl was playing. My son who is 17 is the worlds 2nd biggest Foo Fighters fan (after me!!) was desperate to go, so being a super parent :rotfl:I did the "right" thing and gave them up to him and his gf. I now alternate between major regret and pleasure from knowing how much they enjoyed it.

My 17 year old is a gig king!!. He's been to more concerts and festivals than I can remember. He's been going for over 2 years now and I do worry a bit about him getting crushed as he always manages to get to the front but he loves it and is a really sensible kid. He is actually at Newcastle tomorrow seeing somebody called Asking Alexandra and i must admit , I'm actually excited for him!! :j

I still follow bands around the country! Terrorvision mainly, and I'm doing a weekend seeing Kaiser Chiefs next month.

He is on cloud nine this morning, apparently if he was to see her last night was the best night to see her, smallish venue, right at the front.. He's part of the team burke what ever that is (fan club?) she knew they were there at the front with an elephant (don't ask).

He owes me, he knows it, he also got his resit results yesterday morning and got what he wanted, just warned him that getting the results he wanted in his exams and then ringing me saying he wants to go to London for a gig is not always going to happen.

My baby is happy today.. and i am tired and a few more grey hairs, and another lesson learnt in how to let your babies grow up and be independent.

Early 70's....Wembly Arena....went to see David Cassidy.........with 3 friends from the road we lived on at the time ........ I think I must have neen 12/ 13 .....It was a train ride into london and then the tube and I am still amazed our parents let us go ...no phones then either...

By the late 70's my taste had changed and I would go to the Marquee in London to see Iron Maiden before they were famous....they played there lot at the time......

Mupette.....glad your son got home safe and sound and enjoyed himself..
