Why can you not work, what "mentally" is stopping you from doing so? What can you do to remedy the barriers you feel you have? How will benefits solve these problems?

As I have explained, its a struggle to leave the house, I feel extremely low all the time, everyday is a struggle for me..I have panic attacks, I cry when in a area with more than 1 person, how the hell do you expect me to work when I have these problems? And also who the hell is going to employ someone who HAS these problems.

Like I have said I am finally, after 3 years going back for some help, benefits wont help MY problems. but it will help my life cos food will be payed for, bills ect and essentials! As I have said before. :)

Soon as I have spoke to someone I will let you all know what they said.
  • Plus statistics show that a high number that claim at such a young age will remain on benefits for life.
Tom, my boy, that is her sole intention.

And if I had a Tardis, or some kind of infallible polgygraph detector, I would prove it to you.

I am rather hoping the benefit gravy train is going to really hit the buffers as the year progresses.

It may be an easy target but unfortunately it's a rather large one too

How immature to pick on an 18 year old girl, you need to grow up, what a lovely man you are, I hope life brings you nothing but bad luck for being so inconsiderate towards someone's feelings, what was the need for that little sly dig? Disgusting behaviour. I can not stand people like you, get off your high horse.

Colpol - You have taken the first step in getting help by booking an appointment to see your GP. He may prescribe an anti depressant or counselling or whatever. Please try to go with what the doc advises. It can help.

I have a relative that suffered from depression from a young age. After years of counselling it came out that she was sexually abused from a young age from another so called relative. Once she was able to confront her demons, her anxiety and depression eased. She's far from cured, but it certainly has eased.

Depression is an illness. And part of that illness can be putting yourself down by saying things like "I can't" I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but start at the GP and go from there. Claim ESA if that's what the doctor advises. Not sure about the DLA part, usually only get that if your care needs are quite great. But what I wanted to say is, you CAN change your life. It takes you to do it tho, along with some help and support you CAN do it :)

I am really really sorry for what life has thrown at you and I feel terrible for you, but I find it such an insult to say 'a touch of life getting at you sometimes. ' no, its more than a touch of life getting at me, its more than that but whatever, have your own opinions, an 18 year old girl who is having a 'touch of life' getting at her opinions do not count do they, cos all she is, is a silly 18 year old who has no clue what depression is and how it is to feel like this.

I dont know why I started this thread cos most of you have just been judgemental and tried to turn this around on me and make me feel guilty.

It is very difficult to feel a great deal of sympathy for someone who has been ill for 3 years and in all that time has never consulted a doctor about it. The fact that it's mental illness makes no difference; you wouldn't walk round with a broken leg for 3 years!
  • If you are incpable of work you shouldn't have been claiming JSA. I hope you are ready to repay the money that you have fraudently claimed.

Actually, the very first post said "Over the time I have been claiming JSA I have not felt ready to work due to confidence issues and suffering from depression/anxiety which can be very bad at times, but I had no idea I would be entitled to anything else and Connexions centre knew my problems but still told me to go ahead and claim JSA" so both the OP and Connexions knew they were claiming fraudulently as they were not actively seeking work.
