  • I sent them an email but I'm not hopeful. My complaint was that the deal was still showing at 15:20 when I started the application process but I have no way of proving it.

I don't have a problem with them pulling the deal but at least remove it from your website before doing so rather than telling people retrospectively.

When calling they talk about sending a secure email but I can't find anything about it on the site or anything for customer services.
I just wanted to get an email checking that everything had gone through - anyone know where this is?
  • I didn't receive an email confirming account opening either.

Is there a cooling off period for ISAs so that I cancel this one and subscribe to a different provider for this tax year?
  • The secure message box on their website doesn't appear to be working. If you go to Sitemap you should be able to find a link to it there but it doesn't work.

    I just sent them email.

  • This is a complete joke. I started the application procedure after 3pm and it was still showing the Kindle offer.

The terms did state they could withdraw the offer whenever they wished, there isn't much we could do.

I have spoken to selftrade and was advised that they don't send any emails. I did my debit debit card transfer this morning via phoning them directly (0845 nos don't cost me anything). They gave me my account number over the phone and have arranged for my pin to be posted to me.

The only way to check whether you have got the free Kindle is to phone them directly and ask.

I have also sent a PM to the MSE forum team to advise them of the withdrawal of the Kindle offer and have requested them to update their web pages accordingly to prevent people applying for this offer in the mistaken belief that they will get a free Kindle.

    HTHs.

Also on my ISA it says 0.9%gross + 1.1% fixed rate bonus. Doesn't add up to 2.61% or anywhere near it.

As the OP and the person who posted the deal originally - I have to say I never bothered as it looked more hassle than it was worth. Sorry.
  • I didn't find it any hassle, it was a hundred times less bother than setting up a bank account in the bank itself. All I had to do was fill out a form, which took 5 mins at the most, post them a bank statement, that was it. And as I wanted a kindle anyway, I am delighted.

Hassle ? It took me less than 5 mins to apply on-line, another 1 min waiting for an operator to respond to my phone call (For info I was 9th in queue but they cleared the calls really quickly) and then less than 1 min to give my debit card details.

So less than 7 mins for a free Kindle. Not wot I call 'hassle' for a £89 box !
