My daughter has applied to Intelligent Finance to reclaim her bank charges. She claimed £272.00 with interest which was £34.77 back. They have offered her £122.00 as a goodwill gesture. They have stated that some of the charges made such as unathorised overdraft payments or return or unpaid items she cannot claim for. Since she started this process for reclaiming her bank charges they are still adding charges to her account of £28.00 per month.
Can anyone give me any advice as to what she has to do next.

Today I have received correspondance from Inteligent Finance offering me 50% as a good will gesture. I originally requested £570.00 plus interest and they have offered me £285.00.
Do I just continue to write to them using the sample letters as I am not accepting this.0 -
ok so i have got my charges letter with all the charges on i calculated they totalled to 745 without tax and 990.89 with so sent off letter asking for the money back with tax and recieved a letter saying that they had calculated the charges totalled to 770 but would offer me 385.
ok so here is my questions
should i phone the bank up and ask for a list of the bank charges again? i dont understand where this extra 25 has come from ? i have cheacked and double cheaked on the statement / table they sent me.
if they are correct should i revise my offer to include this extra money and would this affect my claim? or even the start date of my claim
i am unprepared to accept their offer and want to know do i recalculate the tax for the letter taking them to courtok i think that is it im so confused i dont know what to do plllleaaase help me

I presume by "tax" you mean "interest"?
I'd recommend writing to them asking for details of this mysterous £25. Don't forget that a judge would need to see what has been going on prior to you taking the bank to court. The chance to get them to give you the ammunition to claim an extra £25 from them would be more than I could resist. Also, if they've made a mistake, it will do your case no harm whatsoever when the judge reads about it!
Before it gets to the court stage, you can change the amount of your claim.
When you do file the court claim, you will need to run the figures through Martin's online interest calculator again on the same day that you file the claim.

From my experience, and what I've now read about others, Intelligent Finance automatically offer 50% of the amount claimed initially. However they will up it if challenged.
I didn't really expect to get all of it back as I felt there should be some charges for 'bad' transactions.
I must say they were very helpful and pleasant all the way. That was my experience. From the £2299, I claimed, they initially offered me 50%. I phoned them up the same day I received the letter and said let's just sort it now. I said would accept 70% as I wasn't really fussed and didn't want to draw it out any more, though I would have done if they gort snotty.
The very next day, there was a letter in the post saying they would refund 80% (£1839.20) which I accepted. They phoned me and said they would try to get the money in my account as soon as possible, within a week. Apparently the amount being refunded will determine at what level it is authorised, so just be mindful that larger amounts may take longer to actually show up in your account.
To Intelligent Finance's credit (in my case), they didn't act begrudgingly or try to fob me off and were happy to discuss and negotiate. They also kept phoning me to keep me updated as to progress of my claim. I suppose I could have held out for the full amount but over 6 years I think just under £400 is fair enough in charges.
So I am happy, they are happy and our banking relationship remains intact.
SO FOR ALL INTELLIGENT FINANCE CUSTOMERS, MY ADVICE IS WHEN YOU GET YOUR INITIAL 50% OFFER, JUST PHONE THEM UP AND DISCUSS THE MATTER WITH THEM. YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTRE ON 0845 605 06250 -

Send the second letter to the Livingstone address.
The choice between English or Scottish law depends on where you live.

Ive started a claim for around £2500 inc interest.
I sent first letter and within 14 days had my £10 cheque returned saying the service was free.
Ive now just posted the 2nd letter from the templates but wondering how I stand as I now live in England but when I opened the account and run up the charges I was living in Scotland.
Does this make any difference at all?
I`ll keep updating as and when I recieve correspondance!
Thanks to all those before me as Im using your advice too!!
Cheers:beer:0 -
Hi all,
Sent off the template letter requesting a list of all charges over the last 6 years well over 40 days ago now and as yet have still received no response to my request. The cheque for a tenner doesn't appear to have been cashed either. I just wondered if others have had the same difficulties getting a list of charges from IF and if so what did you do to obtain them.
many thanks.0
