  • Evening all,

Today I have put everything required in an envelope but run out of time to post to cccs first thing monday. Also I have rany all cc companies and made token payments, am expecting a deluge of letters and call next week.

I will be so relieved if and when it all goes through.

One thing that did make me smile was a letter from barclaycard this morning offering me a balance transfer. Relentless is the word I would use.

    Have a nice evening all

New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.

Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.
  • We have been on DMP with cccs for three years we have a nationwide flex account which has ran smoothly throughout.
    Good luck on your journey.

Glad the flex account has been ok that's another weight off, thanks for the kind words

  • Hi Stand Fast and welcome :hello:

Well done on taking the first steps in your debt free journey :T

Nationwide are linked with Cheshire, Derbyshire and Dunfermline Building Societies. so as long as you have no debts with any of those, you will be fine :)

If anyone needs a list of linked creditors, there is a really useful

Thank you that's a very helpful post - and glad to say none of the Nationwides links have anything to do with any of my creditors :j

All systems go on the banking front then, as long as there are no last minute catastrophes

I will no doubt be asking lots of stupid questions over the coming weeks so advance apologies if I come over a bit anxious, feels like I've just jumped out of an aeroplane - a real parachute moment!

    Have a great weekend everyone

I cant believe that tomorrow is our third payment to CCCS, its been so easy to set up and monitor on their website. We have come a long way in the last 5 years after our business failed, we went to hell and back with debts running into tens of thousands, but the DMP is working. We don't get any phone calls now and only standard statements. All but HSBC have stopped interest on the accounts so we are finally getting into the realms of reducing the debts. We have a very long way to go but at least we can now get on with our lives again!

We are finding we can have nice family days out without that constant nagging worry of the debts - another great thing.

This forum has certainly helped us through the tough times and will continue to do so - have a good day everyone!!
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
    57% of debts cleared:beer:

    That's good to hear Bertman.

1st October too so I imagine new DMP starters too. Sorry can't recall who, I know several are deferring and starting 1st November. Hardest element done anyway as decisions have been made!!!!!

I have two pork shoulders in the slow cooker, I brined them overnight, rubbed with dry spice rub and am expecting heaps of delicious and very economical pulled pork by 6pm this evening. So today it's off to Wilko for me to top up my plastic freezer storage boxes. Geeky of me I know but I like to keep to the same ones where possible so they stack neatly, save space and you dont have the faff of which lid fits which container.

For the newbies, freezer, slowcooker and microwave are absolute essential combinations to make the most of food bargains that give you great flavour and nutrition at a fraction of the cost that you may have paid in the past.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

    Morning

This is what I have used this weekend

I usually just rub bought stuff on it and go for it but people keep raving about the benefits of the brining etc.

I never fail to be amazed how fab the slow cooker is. I tried in the 80s and never got on with it, very watery caseroles. Can never get over that you can just put a dry joint in there and ta de dah, magic.

Cheaper cuts of meat work especially well and are very flavoursome.

Apologies if anyone has already advised you of this but if not, go out and buy a cheap filing box and keep every piece of communication and all statements. You never know when you will need something so keep the lot.

Re phonecalls, just repeat "I am setting up a debt management plan with XXXX and my reference number is XXXX. You need to speak to my debt management company." We even pretended to be an answering machine on a couple of occasions! If it all gets too much, unplug the phone.

This is what you have to look forward to and check out the date, it's only a couple of months off. I won't kid you, the first few weeks are tough, the letters and the calls get you down and you may see your debt rising but it all stops very quickly and life is suddenly yours again.

Stick around, share successes, moan about horrible creditors, ask for advice and support. We are all in the same boat, we all know how you feel, we will help you :)

Thanks so much. Am off shopping later and am going to give it a go. We have a slow cooker but I often use the slow cooking setting on the oven. I recently got two pieces of silverside of beef very cheap in Morrisons, I used Chinese spices and dried tangerine peel and left them in a dish in the oven all day. The beef literally fell apart and the flavour was fantastic. There is still loads in the freezer but it's not in matching freezer boxes like yours Little Ms Geeky :p
