In the past I just used for casseroles.
Now just stick in a chicken, lid on, and then take take the bones out. Soooo succulent. Porridge, rice pub etc. You can get them between £13 and £20 now. I have three different sizes!

Thanks Hopeful! I think it is a worthwhile purchase especially for yummy autumn casseroles and the like. Can't believe how much I am worrying about spending the money on it - there is hope for me yet!!Allypops

If DMPs are going to work you have to keep your eye on every penny
I appreciate what I do spend so much more now. Can't believe what I have wasted in the past.
Food budget is one area of your life where you can make significant savings without reducing the quality of what you have so worth getting more frugal in this area.
Hope that helps

Morning all :hello:
Moan coming on, look away now if easily offended
Not a good start to the day or October as car would not start this morning, called AA and they started it but it needs a new battery and they offered me one for £106.99. I said no and checked Halfords and they wanted more so have just done some online research and found an identical battery from an independent local retailer for £65. Great saving but still £65 we have to find from somewhere. So I am off work, having to use my flexi time which I was saving up and having to part with £65 which could be paying a debt
I have used the time to make the brine solution for HH's pulled pork recipe and that is going in to soak now and then will be cooked all day tomorrow. Mouth is watering already at the thought
Am with my twin all the way on food savings and slow cooking, be it in an actual crock or in a casserole dish in the oven on a slow cooker setting, is the futureLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

That must be so annoying !
I am lucky that I dont need a car to get to work (or do my shopping) and my Civil Service employer gives me an interest free loan each year, to buy my annual travel pass to get to work (£1152 this year or £96/mth).
I also use the pass for leisure activities and seeing my dad.0 -
TTFTM hope you get sorted ASAP. Your input to all on here is invaluable.Back in the game...0

I have a slow cooker, but am definitely just in the 'casseroles' category. I hadn't really thought of doing chicken. Do you really just put it in and leave it? No butter or anything to 'lubricate' it?
I need some inspiration!0 -
Afternoon all,
Hope everyone is well. Just transferred a tenner from my current account to the new one I have set up and it all seems to be working fine. For the first time in 3 years I am not frightened to log on to my bank account and check my finances as I know exactly what I have and when my Direct debits are coming out etc... You would not believe the relief I currently have regarding this. Many a time I have just not been able to log in knowing that it was going to look bad.
Still a long way to go though, DMP application not even been received by CCCS yet. If it all goes through I think I will be the happiest man alive. Already I am sleeping better.
Just need to give the wife some more time to come to terms with it all, we are still extremely volatile. She is adament that we are going to get debt collectors knocking and lose the house. This isn't going to happen is it?

DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.
Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.0 -

she'll come round, my DOH keeps texting me when the post comes, todays offering a very reasonable letter from Barclaycard, he had exactly the same fears, about bailiffs coming and taking the house etc, at the end of the day its unsecured debt, and they have no claim to our homesLBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)

Hi All.
Could do with a pick me up right now.
Although the DMP has been set up and everybody seems to be accepting it, the wife seems to think things will never change and I can't seem to get through to her that by going into a DMP will help.
We keep having rows regarding trying to budget for the month with regard to food shopping, petrol, etc.
I keep trying to explain how our budget will have to work for a while but she can get very defensive as if I am accusing her of overspending, but I just need her to get onboard with the monthly budget idea. All she keeps saying is that it will never work and feels like saying F*** IT to everything.
I know the first couple of months will be hard when first doing the DMP and changing our spending habits will be difficult.
I'm trying to stay positive but hate the rows.:(:(

DMP Finish - 01/09/2014
Thanks to all on MSE. :T0 -
Stuart & G1W,
To paraphrase both of your statements in one answer. As long as payments are made, the DMP kept up to date and adhered to then no you won't lose the house or have debt collectors round the house. It's a positive thing the DMP. It's you admitting something's wrong and doing something about it. Not just waving the white flag, declaring bankruptcy. That's a lot more serious.
It's not going to be a picnic and it's not designed to be either and your significant others have to understand this. I'm sure they were partly to blame for some of the spending?
Chin up all. Our first payment is the 10th of this month. I even managed to get a tax rebate which meant I could pay some decent token payments and prevent anything from going into arrears which was a nice feeling. Sadly that won't be the case each month.
Best of luck all...Back in the game...0
