    Thanks HH.

Although entering into a DMP was my idea, the wife was glad we did it. I guess I have tried to do everything myself with regard to the DMP so that I know exactly what is going on and what money we have coming and going.

It's just that when I try to explain to her what is going on and what our budget for the month is, that when the arguements start.

Our "first of the month" is actually the 10th, my payday. I explain that all our priorty debts get paid on the 11th of each month and what is left over will get split into 4 weekly amounts to cover living and household expenses. This is what usually starts her off as she thinks it will not be enough to cover shopping, kids club fees, childminder, petrol, etc, and that it is going back into the dark ages a bit whereby I am giving her "housekeeping money".

I guess it will get easier as this month will really be our first proper month at trying the budget idea. Hopefully it will work out and she can see it working.

Apologies for a bit of a rant but needed to vent somewhere.

Hi Stuart1976, I can empathise totally with you here, the arguments (which I suspect everyone suffers at some point where debts start to become unmanageable especially when children are involved) with my wife finally stopped this weekend when we started tackling the problems head on together as a team, being very careful to adopt a "no blame" attitude. It's almost like we were both separately mourning a past lifestyle and mindset.

Stick with it mate and I'm sure everything will come good any day

    All the best

Thanks HH for the response, I'll see if Payplan can offer any advice.

I can find lots of conflicting advice on the net, on one hand people saying landlord checks can only see ccj's or bankruptcy because they are in the public domain with defaults and late payment records not being accessible as they aren't in the PD.

Then others saying the opposite and that they can identify people in a DMP, will post any advice I can get on the forum.

    Very confusing!

Were you renting BEFORE you started your DMP ?

In my case I started renting my flat in 2003, entered my DMP in 2005 and have not moved and paid the DMP monthly and have had no credit checks performed (and I dont think I had one done in 2003 either).

As far as I am aware, aslong as your paying your rent why should the landlord be worried ?.

They would be worried if you went into an IVA or Bankruptcy though.

    True,

If a Credit check was to be performed, Defaults will be there and I would hope that he would be given the chance to explain why.

If your in an IVA or Bankruptcy I would assume that you wouldnt be given the chance to explain, as it shows you are SERIOUSLY in financial difficulties.
  • Hi All

Yes we are currently renting and the question is about moving in the future, doubt we'll be staying here for the next 6 years!

    Thanks for the responses

I have used the time to make the brine solution for HH's pulled pork recipe and that is going in to soak now and then will be cooked all day tomorrow. :D

Does brining work on pork chops or would it make them salty? Did some in a creme fraiche sauce last week. The sauce was delicious, the chops were like rubber. I had to stand up to get enough leverage to cut through them!
  • Tut tut, you are naughty but wouldn't have you any other way.

Good stuff. I made a couple of cartons of stuffing up into balls in the oven. Divided the 2 lamb shoulder up into 18 small tubs with 2 small stuffing balls worked out 48p a portion). Love taking them from the freezer and stuffing a bap with that and a smidge of apple sauce. Yum Yum.

    HHx

Not as naughty as you :p

Stuffing balls and apple sauce sounds good. I was thinking home made coleslaw and sweet potato chips :)

I don't know about the pork shops Amy because I am going off HH's recipe for a huge chunk of pork shoulder. You do drain all the briing solutions off first and then dry the meat so I am hoping it doesn't make it salty.

I tend to cook things really slowly in the oven or slow cooker and then make the sauce and add it later, I have done pork chops on the lowest oven setting all day and they were melting in the mouth delicious. I love creme fraiche sauce with whole grain mustard added, that goes really well with pork chops or we make sausage meatballs with it too :)

Good afternoon all, I haven't posted in a while, I have just been reading everybody else comments.

A quick update from myself - CCCS have received my first payment on the 01/10/2012, so glad that now it has finally started. I have had numerous letters, with the majority accepting the situation we are in, However Shopdirect are adding on late payment fees and still charging interest, these are probably our biggest debt, and have been told by CCCS not to worry they will be getting their payment. Have anyone else had problems with them?

Really looking forward to seeing this debt decrease month by month :)

How are you all getting on with your DMP at present

    Morning all :hello:

Moan coming on, look away now if easily offended

Not a good start to the day or October as car would not start this morning, called AA and they started it but it needs a new battery and they offered me one for £106.99. I said no and checked Halfords and they wanted more so have just done some online research and found an identical battery from an independent local retailer for £65. Great saving but still £65 we have to find from somewhere. So I am off work, having to use my flexi time which I was saving up and having to part with £65 which could be paying a debt :(

Totally sympathise re: the car TTFTM - I took my car for a service today expecting a bill for £150 but got a phone call to say that it needs new brake pads/drums front & back = £550:eek:I had saved £300 so have had to have service plus front brakes done and back will have to wait until next month - but on the plus side, I would have put all of this on my credit card in the bad old days:o (although I wouldn't still have a car that was 5+ years old, I'd have re-financed by now) so I'm looking at this as it's far cheaper than a) having more debt on my CC and b) having car finance over 3-5 years hanging around my neck, if you get my drift:)
