Anyone know how safe these jobs are? Partner has been offered a PA role and is in a real dilemma!

    Cheers

    Matt

Hi, the EO recruitment was for permanent staff. I started as a PA on Monday - imagine they are pretty safe as Job Centre Plus has rising workload due to recession and it's not too easy to make permanent staff redundant.

Hi Matt. Really pleased your partner finally got an offer! Yay!
Recruitment line told me that they don't actually contact your current employer, just confirm with HMRC that you are employed by them.
I was told last week that I'm 6th on the list and all my checks are completed - I'm ready to go, just awaiting a 'space'. So no offer for me yet...
Although me and your partner got the same score I was told that approx 10 people have that same score so obviously they have to pick someone 'first'.
Hope that helps, let me know what she decides! ;)

Further to my post earlier in the week......

my partner has decided to reject the post. She had been offered Kings Heath which was absolutely perfect for us, we literally live down the road!!!!

However, in her current job, she has been made team leader and has scope for pay rises and promotions. This makes much more sense than jumping ship.

Im not sure how protected these EO jobs are, but it seems a tad unprofessional with the way they wanted her to start.... 2 weeks notice!? whats all that about?

Anyways, I hope her rejecting this will free up space for someone who needs it!

Good luck and keep us updated on here if you do get the phone call next!

I was amazed to find a provisional offer email in my inbox dated the 7th July, when I checked them this week. I hurriedly sent back the health form and completed the 'next stage' part of the process.

Now I'm just wondering what kind of time scale I'm looking for regarding an actual placement. I'd completely given up on the process when I thought I'd thoroughly failed (getting a low score) but now I've been filled with hope again! I fear I'll disappointed if they run out of places and I don't end up with a job back at JCP ( I worked there previously on a fixed term contract).

If anyone has any information, that would be great. My offer is for the Birmingham/Solihull area.

    Thanks :o)

Oh and congrats to everyone else too!

After seeing that a couple of others on here have been fortunate enough to be given provisional offers recently [Congrats to all!] I was curious to know whether my position on the B&S reserve list had changed. Despite all of my checks being completed [and having a clear CRB certificate sitting on my shelf] I still haven't moved from 6th place and there is not even a sniff of a provisional offer.
    Getting so impatient!

My partner rang to decline her offer today, and she was asked if she would like to stay on the list just incase, to which she replied yes.

Apparantly there is a posting panel on Monday so you may hear something shortly after?

    Hi Redsky

That seems really strange. I thought they did the checks after the provisional offer. But I've not received my CRB yet. I've worked for the civil service for the last three years, until 3 weeks ago. Are they perhaps using my previous CRB's? I don't know. Perhaps you could question why your checks have been done but you've not received an offer, yet other people seem to be visa versa.

Does anyone have the phone number? I think I want to give them a call! :o)

Best of luck Redsky! Hopefully we'll be working together soon!

Hi Pip, Well done for getting an offer! Yay!:j
I left an EO job 5 years ago after working for JCP for 8yrs. I am desperate to get back into the dept.

I did ring RL and question why they had done my checks and they told me that anyone 1-10 on the reserve list had their checks done in advance to help prevent delays if they were given an offer. I do take this to mean that, hopefully, I will get an offer before the 6mth deadline but I am just being impatient. My referees keep asking when I'm due to start my new job and I have to explain that I haven't been offered one yet. Very strange!
The recruitment line number is 0845 603 2694 but they are only open Mon-Fri.
Yeah, maybe we will be working together soon. Fingers crossed!
    :)
  • I will definitely be phoning them on Monday to check where I am on the list and what checks have been performed. I'll let you know what they say! I looked back at what you scored and I got the same. I also applied to BC, BS & SS! I was an EO in 09/10 on a fixed term contract and I really want to get back there! Seems crazy that we've both done the job previously yet didn't score that highly at interview!
