I've just finished my third week in the job, got the job offer 3 weeks before that and still have no starter pack. Nobody appears to have one that I've come across.

I had an email telling me when and where to go, what the contract entailed etc. I figured that was the starter pack?

I rang recruitment line today and a very kind person told me that I have passed all of my security checks but they are pre-emptive.:(
I am currently 6th on the waiting list and it has taken so long to place previous successful applicants that they are now doing the checksbefore making a provisional offer.:)
It was explained to me that I still had to wait for an offer and there would still be no guarantee that I would be given an offer before the 6mths is up.:(
Good news is that I am closer to the start of the list than ever and if I get 'the call/email' I won't have to wait around for my checks to be done - I can just hand in my notice at my current place of work straight away.:)
  • What was ur score? I scored 25 and was told I was 18th last week.

    I also scored 25. A few weeks ago I was 34th, now I'm 6th. Yay!

Anybody opted for dwp pensions. I really need an advice.

You mean joining the Civil Service pension scheme? If your question is should I? Then without a doubt you should.

Feel free to ask away, have you checked out the CS website to see if that can help you if you don't want to post it here

I scored 41 at interview. Advised end of April I was 17th on list. As I'm desperate for employment, I thought I'd send a friendly email and enquire if there was any movement with my position ... I've dropped to 19th!! How is that possible I asked ... no response!! Think it's finally time to accept they don't want me and move on!

I scored 33 at interview and was told that I was 74th on reserve list. Since seeing offers going out lately to relatively low scores I emailed them again to check my situation. I was told I had been placed 74th on the merit list & 26th on the waiting list. I presume this must mean that 48 positions were offered & I must be 26th on the list. Unless over half of those given offers fail their checks or references or turn their offers down I feel I must accept defeat! I believe my area must have scored relatively high as candidates who scored less than 30 were sent rejection emails.

While waiting for the DWP job, I've been offered an admin job with the CSA!

Just wondered if when I start, if I will be on the minimum, or if I'll get slightly more due to my age (42)?

That doesn’t sound right. How can you drop 2 places? Yourscore is very high. I am surprised you were not offered a position outrightwith that score.
What area did you apply for? Why don’t you go back over this forum and see if people in the area youapplied for have been offered places with a score the same or lower than yours.
I hope you get offered something soon.

I am waiting for my checks to be completed. I keep lookingat the post to see if my CRB has arrived, when I receive that at least I willknow it won’t be too long after that. This has been the longest process ever.

    Hello sammyd123,

I received my CRB last Tuesday, which was surprisingly quick. Judging by other people's comments I was hoping that "The phone call" would follow soon after, but still waiting.
