Likely to be a Team leader post of up to 10 staff or Decision maker (this is a self performing role), these are the main two posts in a Benefit Centre at EO level.
Thx sammyjammy I'm hopeing the post would not be managing the AOs as it could more stressful. Oh well I guess I could enjoy it-I'm so excited!
I've worked in Corporate Finance for a good few years so I'm less than familiar with role in recent times but if you get a Team leader role it can be one of the most rewarding roles if you get a good team of people. It is stressful when you are responsible for others but thats a sign that you're doing a good job.
Decision maker is a nice role if you are good at working on your own and concentrating hard for long periods of time and no staff to be responsible for. I don't think they have any contact with customers either but can't be sure about that."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
If I can offer some advice to the successful candidates it would be this.
Before your first day.
Get to know your local labour market.Who is recruiting regularly, where are the main trading estates, who are the big employers.
Go into a jobcentre , (ideally not the one you are going to start work in) and carry out a jobsearch on the machines.Get a feel for the place, listen to the way the staff interact.See how the customer flow is managed.Listen to what the customers coments are about the service.
Look at the different provisions available on the DWP site. What is Work Experience, what is M.W.A, what is New Enterprise allowance. You will more than likely be working on the Youth Contract, so what is it ?
Read through certain parts of the Jobseekers Act, (1995).Not all of it but particulary the sections on Actively Seeking Employment, and the Jobseekers Agreement.
Have a look at Direct Gov, specifically the section on Jobseeking.

Hope this is of some use.

I was offered a place on the waiting list on the 22nd of April and given a provisional offer last Sunday. I'm very excited but was wondering how long people had to wait for a confirmed start date and location after getting their provisional offers. I can't drive and am a bit concerned that they will place me somewhere I can't easily get to.
Thanks.0 -
To those who havee been fortunate enough to receive an offer - do you know if "The call" comes from the business manager of the jobbcentre where the vacancy is? (specifically that jobcentre)
No, my call came from the main job centre for my region. She was doing all the calls for that region.0 -

hello frost i start on monday in the bury office and i think tuesday we start training as far as i can remember the training is in middleton. what office are u located at might see you at training0 -
I'm still confused....last week shared services emailed to say that they are carrying out my security checks. I gave the names of 2 personal references and I know that my referees have been contacted and sent the questionnaire straight back. Since last week I haven't heard anything. I don't know whether it's worth contacting shared services or recruitment line to enquire? I haven't been given a provisional offer and as far as I'm aware I am still on the reserve list.
Anybody in a similiar situation or got any suggestions? :undecided0 -
