Does dwp eo grade also have roles on pension and call centres? Has anyone secured this role so far?

There are EO roles everywhere but this recruitment was specifically for Jobcentres (although a few roles may end up elsewhere where local arrangements apply), an EO role in a Contact Centre or a Pension Centre will more than likely, although not exclusively, be Team Leader roles where you will be managing upwards of ten staff at AO grade, particularly in Contact Centres this can be a very stressful role.

Same thing here Sammyd123. I'm a bit shocked after being told that I was 160th on the reserve list.

    Now it's the big countdown.
  • Everyone see this today?
Senior jobcentre executives have warned staff of the risk of benefit claimants attempting suicide as controversial changes to sickness benefits are being pushed through.

The warning, contained in an internal email sent to staff by three senior managers of the government-run jobcentres, warns staff that ill-handling of benefit changes for vulnerable claimants could have "profound results" and highlights the case of one suicide attempt this year.
But the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union, which represents Jobcentre Plus staff, says that they feel ill-equipped to deal with the volume of work, vulnerable claimants and cutbacks.

One jobcentre telephone adviser told the Guardian that the change had been handled "abysmally" and that they feel ill-equipped and "helpless" when talking to distraught customers on the phone, who are phoning up to ask about other options.

I've just spoken to the lovely man who had called me with the firm offer, and asked him what my hours will be as a PA. He said that PAs tend to work 9-5 Monday-Friday. The job centre that I will be working in isn't actually open to the public on a Saturday, but there may be the occasional overtime offered.

I am now starting to get really excited about the new role!!

Congratulations Toonette.I take it from your user name you are a fan of the black and whites. My advice if you are working in the Boro or Eston, don't let anyone know that !

A full week is 37 hours, so spread over 5 days works out at 7 hours 24 minutes per day. Most advisers come in about 8.20-8.40 ready for a 9am interview.Last interview is around 4.15 allowing a bit of time to clear up.
Wednesday morning's start later as their is a communications meeting until 10.

Despite some comments from certain posters, it is an excellent place to work, and while there are trying customers on occasion, if all customers were supremely motivated, they wouldn't need advisers.

Soak up all the training, shadow as many different advisers as you can to pick up good styles, phrases and techniques.

Don't get drawn in to the negative circles that do exist.Generally the people who have been doing the same job/grade for the last 20 years and are no longer making a difference, and contribute nothing but complaints and grievances.

Performance from 2012 will be measured as much on attitude as it is on knowledge and results, so if you go in each day in the hope of making a difference , you won't go far wrong.

    Good Luck

    :hello:

Thanks so much for this post. I'm still waiting on my firm offer 5 weeks after the receiving a provisional, and to be honest I am bricking it about fitting in and working for a civil service department. I guess it's just usual new job jitters,
But all this waiting is making it about 100x worse!

I only recently enquired about my position on the reserve list and I was 6th.

Until I get a call with a firm offer, location and start date I am not taking anything for granted.

Did anybody that emailed them accepting their provisional offer receive an email back?

Good luck to all those waiting for a firm offer and those on the waiting list

Just looked at an old quote of yours and we got the same scores for our interview and applied for North London so at least there is consistency on the reserve list!

Let me know if you get a firm offer and I will do the same:rotfl:
