I received a provisional offer for South London and heard back at the end of May. I also received provisional offers for other districts and received all my firm offers at the same time so maybe one of the other districts you applied for is holding things up.0 -
Has anybody secured an alternative working pattern such as a compressed 4 day week or 9 day fortnight?
I'll be studying part time soon and a few contracted free days a month would be fantastic
If not, I understand I could get the odd free day by building up extra hours via long days?0 -

Its difficult to say, yes these options are available to apply for but business needs come first. It may well depend on your role, if you're a Personal advisor then its unlikely it would be agreed for you to do a 4 day week due to the fact you would need to work 9hrs 15 minutes a day and the Jobcentre is only open 8 hours a day (and you would have a lunch break in that time), you would struggle to persuade them you would be able to meet your interview requirements. 9 day fortnight might be more likely if you were flexible on the days.
You can but ask"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Any new starters care to share how the first day went,,,:j ?0

I have been doing this for the last 2 years in my CS department (NOT DWP), I am am AO who is single with no dependents.(I am off every monday).
You can ask to do this BUT they can refuse on
1) Business needs and
2) You will need to complete your training
They CANNOT refuse you though on the grounds of
1) Your single
2) You have no dependents
If they do get the PCS Union involved (presuming you have joined the Union) and get them to help you.
Personally I dont find it hard to my 37 hours in 4 days, in fact I do extra each day so I can still get extra flexi days off.
(I would also recommend that you ask for Monday as your non working day, as which day of the week do most Bank Holidays tend to fall on ???? - Monday !). Which means as I am full time, if a Bank Holiday falls on a Monday I get a 7.24hour flexi credit, if it falls Tues-Fri I lose flexi , as I should work 9.15 hours but only get the 7.24.
Thats a small sacrifice to pay to get 52 Mondays off a year, on top of my 30 days Paid Leave & 10.5 days Bank Holidays !.0 -
